played a bunch of stuff
I kept reading people saying that
Sonic Adventure on DC is better than the SADX release on GC.
Well, it sure looks nicer. Textures are better and more detailed looking, a lot of textures are outright different entirely from DC->DX, lighting is way more consistent, objects have better looking reflections, etc. Some bits are a bit overly dark looking, but it's overall better looking on DC. There's a lot of stuff that got murdered brutally in the transition away from the DC. Nothing like seeing the ocean as a bright acid blue in the middle of the night, too.
...but like, I also fell out of a loop for no apparent reason [twice!], fell through the bridge in Emerald Coast because it suddenly jumped in position, it was a little odd trying to get onto one spring in Windy Valley and the game keeps trying to reposition where Sonic is and isn't quite doing it right, etc, etc -- all things I keep hearing are "far worse" problems in SADX [and although I've had my fair share of falling through "solid" geometry in SADX, I've also had like thrice the amount of weird issues pop up in a similar amount of time on DC].
Also, SADX seems to handle better. I think this is just because it runs at 60fps [mostly, it framedrops here and there, I used the GC version to compare], while SA1 on DC is 30fps locked, so it's easier to react to anything.
I was also playing
Kururin Squash for GC.
Very fun. Knew about the series having played one of the GBA games and decided to pop this in.
I also played a bit of
XGIII on GC, it's okay. Kinda remembered it being a bit better, since it was like the second or third GC game I ever had way back when.
Oh, and I threw on
Sin and Punishment 2. I don't have a Wii anymore, so I had to use Dolphin to play -- but it works pretty much perfectly with KB+M controls. Really perfectly.
I kinda forgot how much padding these stages had, good lord. It's still really good, but there are annoyingly long stretches of
basically nothing that are visibly just there so you can build multiplier.
