I've been dormant on this thread for some time, but I do want to post here and show off a new chiptune album I put out.
Enter XOREX - Requiem for a Space Bug! I got some pretty cool album art commissioned for the piece, that I'll post in full. I think it sells the ethos and world of the music pretty well. There's also three long non-chiptune remixes at the end that total about 1/3 the length of the album, which are some of my best work to date. Hope y'all can give it a listen!

Reason 5 is the last version that could be cracked. It always cracks me up whenever someone posts music made with it. I'm on Reason 11 myself.

Back in the day, I had bought online the Reason 2.5 + M-Audio Oxygen bundle, it cost me 449 USD. It took me long to master 30% of the software. Then I tried more recent updates, but honestly the version 5 is sufficient for my needs.emphatic wrote:Reason 5 is the last version that could be cracked. Re: Your new music thread **formerly 'Music Production Threa
I upgraded from Reason 3 to Reason 8.3 first, and it was a revelation. With the current version (well, since 9.5) you can run VST 2 plugins in it as well.

The VST support is a little revolution for Reason I hope they have impoved the sound engine a little bit also to compete with Ableton Liveemphatic wrote:I upgraded from Reason 3 to Reason 8.3 first, and it was a revelation. Yeah, they did. The VST support was greatly improved as well in the same update. I think they completely re-wrote their sound engine.cvaniafan wrote:I hope they have impoved the sound engine a little bit also to compete with Ableton Live

And what about the further development of the software? I actually don't really like software that is super hard to learn. Still, in the 21st century, everything goes towards casualness, so that the interface is as intuitive as possible.

Hello folks,
I have a band called Cosmic Void and we've just released our first record digitally on Bandcamp + various streaming platforms:
https://cosmicvoidmusic.bandcamp.com/
If you are into either Doom/Black Metal or Post-Rock or Psychedelic etc., you may want to try it out.
Any feedback is welcome.

This year is the 35th anniversary of the Namco arcade game Return of Ishtar, the second game in the Druaga series. I'm a pretty big fan of Tower of Druaga (the PCE remake is one of my favorite games!), and I had already made a remix medley for Druaga's 35th anniversary, so I thought I'd do the same for the sequel!
https://soundcloud.com/ec2151/ishtars-e ... ry-tribute
https://ec2151.bandcamp.com/track/ishta ... 2151-remix
I've been working on this since earlier in the summer. It takes several themes from the game and reimagines them in a sort of World fusion, mixing synths and ethnic/tribal instruments. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out, so please give it a listen!

oh, i never know this thread until now
i have been composing music as soul hobby since college 2011, and now as near 30s boomer, still keep going....
my promotion is sucks and never pass anything beyond the grass field
thanks to this pandemic, i moved my lazy azz and started uploading my music on youtube, newground, bandcamp and try to solidfying my musical portfolio (soundcloud is dead for me, sadly) after all these years long sleep on my hard drive
here is my works so far, you can expect nostalgia feeling on late 90s, early 2000 melodic vibes, or should i stop living in the past and embrace modern loudsy EDM? i don't know

Available digitally, on CD and tape via Bandcamp :
https://beholderqc.bandcamp.com/album/arcane-subreptice
https://youtu.be/cLTUMjwy-PA
''The first dose of poison of 2022 has arrived.
I don't know if it's because I only listened to 1 (written, one) album in the 10 days I was abroad for the New Year's holiday, I liked many albums released in the first days of 2022 much more than I expected. I am so used to listening to and writing new albums all the time that during this 10-day metal abstinence, it may be possible that I was thirsty for metal that I was not aware of, and for this reason, I might like the new things I listen to.
The first and freshest album released in 2022, which I am sure I can evaluate before I get too excited about it, is the new and first work of Canadian black/thrash metal band BEHOLDER, “Arcane Subreptice”. In the album, where tremolo guitar melodies are intertwined with predatory black metal riffs, the identity of black metal, which leads directly to the target without disturbing the atmosphere. and there is a structure that will please those who love the elbow contact with thrash metal.
We witness a traditional black metal vocal and a strong drum performance based on blast beats in "Arcane Subreptice", which offers the darkness of BATHORY with its deep-seated punk and predatory thrash character. The vocals are used in a fuller style rather than shriek, and they create an environment that will delight anyone who shuns the presumed darkness of black metal, from URGEHAL to ENSTILLE. BEHOLDER makes a very clear black/thrash metal break that does not contain any side elements etc., but presents it by emphasizing its own understanding, not by bringing the important names of ancient times to the present day.
In my opinion, BEHOLDER, which does its part in terms of memorability, distributes the moments when the icy Scandinavian cold is pressed, as well as the raw parts in which MOTÖRHEAD sounds like an overly evil and raging state. The pitch black metal atmosphere that the album gives to the listener, and especially the use of vocals, is sometimes enough to make “Arcane Subreptice” look like it came from a Norwegian or Swedish band. Therefore, listeners who distance themselves from the North American side of black metal can easily convince themselves that they are listening to a Scandinavian band and enjoy the same. There is the dark pattern, the evil pattern, the anger pattern. It's like putting a blunt knife in your neck and turning it around.
Although the dark parts of the album seem to wink at WATAIN's black metal, BEHOLDER is never like WATAIN. The reason why I mention WATAIN in particular is because of BEHOLDER's direct and nonchalant approach. I see this temperament as conducive to approaching WATAIN, but BEHOLDER doesn't do that and thus manages to position itself in a more valuable place by making it feel like it's not following in the footsteps of any group.
As I said, "Arcane Subreptice", which I listened to and studied while flying on the Kiev-Istanbul plane after a 10-day metal detox, maybe sounded extra good to me because of this detox, but when I look at it without taking this into account, I think that the album is mostly successful and contains above-average black metal. . I think it is valuable to be listening to an album of this caliber in these first days of the year, which seems like an empty lesson for metal. That's why I congratulate BEHOLDER, recommend the "Arcane Subreptice" and conclude the article with the wishes that 2022, which I think started well when I look at metal, will continue to get better and stronger.''

Now that's the fuckin stuff. Pummelling MotorFrost so black it burns. Just hit the first verse of track 3, my calves are burning already. Razorlined high-speed technical violence with a bone-shattering lower gear, just how I like my blackened thrash. (caught that Tom G "UH!" just then edit: and that BR00TAL one that kicks off Régicide des dryades )

Hell yeah brother
That's a kickass review, right on and eloquently put as your usual self
Thanks so much for the great compliments!
We do like to throw in some slow parts among these furious songs
''MotorFrost so black it burns'' I like that!
We're super proud of the record, and couldn't be happier with the great feedback we received and quite good
exposure. Sales of our stock are going well too.
Feel free to share our unholy work in the HARD ROCK X HEAVY METAL super thread (I don't think a lot of the people there, check this thread)
