I feel for you man. I hope you're doing all right.
A couple months later and I have a lot, though not all, of my taste and smell back. A few weeks ago I smelled a fire burning for the first time, which was a rare pleasure. A little while earlier it was almond butter.
Some things are not entirely the same; coffee grounds don't smell as 'good' as they used to, but that hasn't stopped me from being a caffeine addict. I kinda am hoping that I 'force' my body to remember the good smell the beans used to have for me.
I can't smell "bad" things yet, which is the weirdest. Skunks outside? Garbage? Literal shit? It hasn't registered. I mean, of all things concerned, that might be a blessing and make living in the city a little nicer lol. Though I nonetheless want that back; I feel like I am at an evolutionary disadvantage here. I guess I better find some willing ladies for those orgies Gaijin was talking about if smell ain't going to be an issue, eh?
I on-and-off take the train, but my laziness is keeping me in a car more than I'd like to. I was always so anti-driving in the city during normal traffic times; now a 20 minute commute (previously: 60-75 min) is a serious competitor with an hour train ride. I guess going off the above, smells should not bother me on the train anymore LOL.
It really is the little things in life, right?
