I liked Alpha Mission II & its gonzo power up system back in its day. Enjoyed Ghost Pilots as well. In looking at footage now, the opening of AMII seems like it holds up, while GP moves at like 1/3rd the speed I remember.

Yes just played start seems fresh enough, great arcade feel to these , newer games just don't even try and replicate the era

Yes, Viewpoint's soundtrack is one of the things I love about the game. So much fun to listen to.

Well Ninja Commando is a pretty awesome Neo Geo shooter, I strongly recommend it.

I put some time into Ninja Commando last year. I settled on one of the easier special moves (hold down then up+attack) while taking it slow and only advancing while that attack is going off, which pretty much got me though the entire game.

If I recall correctly, there was a dash move that pretty much help you get things done, it also adds to the overall action.

I didn't even think of Ninja Commando, that game kinda rocks.

ASO II is not really comparable to Ghost Pilots. Ghost Pilots is incredibly silly, but ASO II is fairly legit.
