More Steam Shmups

Post by A Skeleton »

A year ago I made a video on Steam Shmups and posted it here.

Now I'm back to do it again, bigger and better than before!

Good to see you and your genial sense of humor back at it...though now I have that stupid skeleton song stuck in my head again (and you hid it for a while to lure me into a false sense of security, you cheeky bugger). :P

I'm not much good for criticism when it comes to this stuff, I personally like your style, which comes across as genuinely "you" while still applying enough of an objective eye to each game to keep it away from self-indulgence; one thing I will note, though, is that Visco is decidedly not a Brazilian company.

Whelp. now I finally get to use that clip of Alex Jones saying "I'm kinda retarded" in my next video when I address that mess up. I must've been reading about the wrong Visco. Thanks a lot for clearing that up.

Really appreciate the kind words. I think you'll find that I'm the realest skeleton there is when it comes to video game opinions.

Really enjoyed the video, even though I would take a moment to edit out the sound of your bony fingers handling the controller because it is very distracting. I especially like the difficulty ratings, I would certainly watch a video where you rate the difficulty of the top 100 shmups

Cool, learned of several cool looking games I'd never heard of before.

That was a very entertaining video, and the pacing is so right that you don't notice the video's length. Those difficulty ratings are awesome!

The confusion over Visco may come from the fact that QUByte Interactive, the dev team in charge of the Vasara Collection port, is indeed Brazilian.

Loved the video. Found it really interesting and the humor is top notch.
Went back and watched your other submissions, and I'm really surprised you do not have more followers.

If there's one thing you can say about skeletons, they've got nothing to hide - everything is just plain out there. Unless they happen to be in a closet.

Curious if you plan on sticking to more or less "orthodox" shmups for the time being; there are still plenty more of those to check out just on Steam, mind you, but if you dare to expand out into fixed-screen/twin-stick/roguelite/etc. stuff you're set for life. Er, afterlife.

Eventually I'd like to branch off into other shmups I like that aren't on Steam, but it'll be awhile. Games like Gun Nac, Dragon Spirit and Silpheed.

As for twin stick shooters, I'm preparing their own video for later.

By the time you go back to Steam shmups there'll be at least 50 more lol.

I really enjoyed the video and your presentation and you got me subbed as well. Also checked out your previous year old shmups video. Not gonna lie, I loved seeing Crimzon Clover being the first game reviewed there. Good job!
If I may suggest some of my personal favorites for future reference: Hellsinker, Strania: The stella machina, Infinos Gaiden, Delta Zeal, Neko Navy, Flying Red Barrel - The Diary of a Little Aviator.
Thanks!

Thank you kindly. That's a useful list, but I find a small measure of enjoyment by going spelunking through Steam for buried treasure. That's how I found stuff like Q-Yo Blaster.

Crimzon Clover is sublime. I could play that game any day. Thanks a lot for the recommendations. Neko Navy has been on my wishlist for awhile. About time I ponied up the dough. As for Hellsinker, not gonna lie, I gave it a shot and was immediately turned off. Caveman brain didn't understand.

Crimzon CLover is just perfect in any way. Can't wait for EXplosion to hit STeam (lucky Switch people..). As for Hellsinker... I had about the same reaction as you back in the day, but then as in "50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong" I gave it another one after studying and doing a bit of research. It's also sunblime in its epic weirdness. A one of a kind shmup.
