How does one unlock StarBlade shmup game on PS2 Tekken 5?
I recently got the PS2 Tekken 5 LE with generic USA version Hori RAP Stick and was wondering -- how does one unlock the hidden 1991 Namco produced arcade game title of StarBlade on the PS2 Tekken 5 game disc?
I remember pluncking down 75 cents per credit to play StarBlade in 1991-1996, awesome arcade game...it used a special mirror to enlarge a standard monitor to larger-than-life presentation of StarBlade's amazing graphics + running a silky smooth arcade-wise 60 frames per second framerate. I admit "credit-feeding" StarBlade so I could see the ending story & end credits as well. ^_~
The PSX version of StarBlade Alpha really didn't do playing the arcade version of StarBlade very well.

As far as i remember finishing the Devil Within Mode triggered it. But I am not 100% sure.
I really like Tekken 5 and a played it quite a lot, but maybe you should look into some FAQs. If you just want to get Starblade.
Or i guess you best go into practise mode choose a character you'd like to play. Try out some simple moves, go into the arcade mode play for awhile, invite friends into your house and now try to beat the crap out of them... well i guess this won't trigger Starblade but you might start to enjoy Tekken itself. :p
PS: Yeah it also has Tekken 1-3

That's the only reason I bought Tekken 5 too... Although Namco made the unlock process for StarBlade a bit time consuming, so I haven't gotten around to getting it yet; here is the method from Gamefaqs:SAM wrote:Don't tell me you bought the game just for the unlockable StarBlade.
(Moving thread to OT as StarBlade is a rail shooter.)Gamefaqs.com wrote:Codes & Secrets: StarBlade in Arcade History
You have to unlock StarBlade from Devil Within.
Go to the first room in Stage 4-2, there is a breakable wall underneath the higher ledge. Transform to Devil Jin and press L1+Square to blast at the wall.
There will be some tiles appear after the wall is destroyed. Jump over the tiles and move on to the next room.
There will be a spaceship from StarBlade in the middle of the room. Collect it and continue to beat Stage 4 to unlock Star Blade.

Somewhere towards the end of the "Devil Within" mode, you will come to a room with a chasm and a cracked wall on the far side. Use the ranged attack to blow up the wall and reveal a Starblade ship inside. Just jump across the gap and grab it. I'm not sure, but I think you then have to beat that level (and consequently save your game) to unlock Starblade.

But I still think the main game is really good, I don't care for those sub mini games in a fighting game aynway...

The Devil Within game didn't do too much for me either. It's all about the Tekken series and Star Blade.
I kicked some ass with Jack-5 at GameWorks, getting a record of around 2'34"88. Throws take too long to really be useful for Time Attack IMO. Hitting Jinpachi with the shoulder smash and then running over him works fairly well. If you time it right, you can shoulder smash him again as he gets up. I've had no joy with the giant stomp against Jinpachi, because he'll knock Jack out of the air.
Kazuya and Devil Jin can take him easily- do a Kuzankyaku (running 3) and then follow immediately with that uf+4,4,4,4 (jumpkick, 2 hell sweeps, roundhouse). He'll block the Kuzankyaku and eat all of the last part.

Kinect? KIN NOT.
