Yeah, proxy I use specified in their covid warning that Japan Post is buried in shipment and that big delays are to be expected. Sounds to me like a perfect scenario for packages to get lost in the shuffle. Not gonna take that risk

Well the figure did release on time. $56 EMS vs $108 DHL (3 figures total in the order so it is fairly heavy). Might be a bit too steep for me to go with DHL.

Ah, interesting. The proxy themselves on their site mention the possibility of lost items, which is why I mentionned it. But maybe they're being overtly careful in covering themselves and maybe there's no real risk. I'll think about itGaijinPunch wrote:You would think so, but organization is something Japan somehow excels at... despite the chaos and over complicating of everything done the Japanese way. Re: News for importers: Japan Post parcel restrictions
Only about $100 actually, but still bad. Turns out I would need to just wait if I picked the other shipping options. Not really in the mood for that (plus who knows when it clears up) so I swallowed the crap pill. $274 total that originally I had budgeted $220-ish for.Steamflogger Boss wrote:Well the figure did release on time. $56 EMS vs $108 DHL (3 figures total in the order so it is fairly heavy). Well, at least Steamflogger Boss and guigui's packages got delivered, mines hasn't moved since 4/15/20 (its a JP X360) and its still stuck in Osaka with EMS shipping. I know I'm not gonna see that being delivered for a long while until the restictions are lifted.

Re: News for importers: Japan Post parcel restrictions
All of my economy parcels from Japan were returned to sender but the ones shipped by surface arrived just fine.
My parcels shipped to the US took ages - as many as 40-50 days to deliver when under normal circumstances, it should be 7 to 14 days. My personal recurring joke is that every time a buyer opens an Item Not Received case, the tracking updates shortly after saying "arrived at US". Then I breathe a sigh of relief.
What's the current situation regarding the rioters and USPS post offices? Apparently a Minneapolis post office was torched and a Fed Ex truck elsewhere was invaded and ransacked. I've already blacklisted South America from purchasing, maybe I should add the North too...

In STL there were multiple delivery trucks looted. One resulted in a reportedly gruesome death when it took off, as you might imagine an 18 wheeler would do to human flesh.layzee wrote: What's the current situation regarding the rioters and USPS post offices? Re: News for importers: Japan Post parcel restrictions
Ah yes, saw that one on LiveLeak. When a person (e.g. a looter) places oneself between two people-sized wheels, those wheels belonging to a truck driver, who under extreme circumstances (e.g. a riot) decides to hit accelerate to get out of there, and the wheels start turning (with aforementioned person still there)... the end results are darwinally predictable.GaijinPunch wrote:In STL there were multiple delivery trucks looted. Anyway, as (bad) luck would have it, I have one parcel currently heading to Minneapolis and one to St. Louis. Fingers crossed.

it seems like Japan Post has resumed its services, to Switzerland, at least.

https://auspost.com.au/about-us/news-me ... pdates#usaThe Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in the United States of America (USA) is being heavily impacted by increased volumes through their facilities and civil unrest in addition to the COVID-19 pandemic response.
Anyone can shed some more light on the current situation over there? The last time there was a big riot was in '92 which just so happens to be in LA, hmm...

Things should be normal now across the board, but even here in San Jose which is one of the most boring cities in America, shops were closing WELL before sun down (and boarding up windows).

My JP X360 finally came in after two months of waiting.

Re: News for importers: Japan Post parcel restrictions
KoF '95 for Saturn with ROM cart finally arrived. I had to wait 5-6 extra days after the package arrived nearby due to the post office sending it to the wrong place, but at least it stayed in MD before it was finally delivered.
Re: News for importers: Japan Post parcel restrictions
As of the 18th of June, restrictions have been lifted from several European countries (see first post for more details). Hopefully more to come in the near future.

Re: News for importers: Japan Post parcel restrictions
I have received my package last week. I had instructed them to ship via EMS 3 weeks ago or so (maybe 4). So it took let's say 2 and a half weeks to get here. Not bad, I'm pretty happy even.

After 2 straight months of no movement in Atsubetsu (Hokkaido), an order I had placed for a damaged AES joystick has finally begun to make its way across the Pacific.
Re: News for importers: Japan Post parcel restrictions
Any more updates from anyone purchasing anything lately?
I want to snag a few things from eBay (shipping from Japan)... what’s the latest word...?
I don’t feel eBay is doing a good enough job communicating wait times...
Sellers must be losing their minds.

I received my Psikyo Artbook that I ordered in early March... even after I had received a refund! There was never an indication that it continued its journey to the states over these long months.

Re: News for importers: Japan Post parcel restrictions
Same deal here. I was under the impression that Puzzle Bobble 2x Saturn was still in the pre-shipment stage when I cancelled it.
Edit: Found out something interesting now that I have both versions. US save data is compatible with the JP version. My default settings and high scores from BAM2 were intact when I booted up the JP version. JP version still has that weak stereo mix where the music is too quiet. Sounds great in mono, though.

As of the 30th of June, restrictions have been lifted from Italy and New Zealand (see first post for more details).
Re: News for importers: Japan Post parcel restrictions
I missed the update for Norway (18th). Finally, I have some stuff I need to order without worrying about cancellations.
Re: News for importers: Japan Post parcel restrictions
Good news: After more than a year of the stopping of EMS, it is expected that EMS shipments to USA (and maybe Oceania and Europe) will resume on June 1.
Bad news: There is now an EMS surcharge which range from about 20% for lighter items to almost 70% for heavier items.

Yeah sounds like I might just stick with DHL.
