how do you say ESP Ra.De. ?

Post by rolins »

I just began playing ESP Ra.De. on Mame last night. Such an awesome shooter that I wish I knew about this years ago.

Anyway I want know what's the correct pronunciation of ESP Ra.De. ?
Is pronounced...
- "Esprade"
- "E-S-P-Ra-De"
- "E-S-P Raid"
- "E-S-P Rad"

Also was this game ported to any consoles, maybe the PS2 ?

I just spell it out usually, just like ESPGaluda, E.S.P. Rah Dee, and E.S.P. Galuda

I pronounce ESPRaDe "eh-sprade", but pronounce ESPGaluda "ee-ess-pee ga-lu-da". I believe I've actually seen katakana spelling out "e-su-pu-ga-ru-da", but I'm convinced it just sounds weird when you actually say it.

Thanks guys for clearing that up. I'm just going say it as "E-S-P Raid" from now on.

Both use the 'katakana' style pronunciations. I think ESPGaluda's even has katakana in the fine print of it's logo.

I remember when I just started getting into shooters, and I was looking at a friend playing it on MacMAME and asked what it was, and when he said the name, it sounded like "S Parade".. and I was like, oh how lame... sounds like there are circus elephants or something...

...and now I have the PCB and it's one of my favourites.

Doesn't the title screen actually say it ?

I thought ESP was a whole syllaball (did I spell that right?) and the rest is just the word "raid" but spelt "rade".

yes, there should be zero debate here. Just boot the PCB/Mame and let the 'attract' mode loop for a bit. it will reveal the pronunciation.

Abbreviation for
Raging Decide, which is most likely a mispelling of Ragin Deicide. Surely you've read this. Personally, my favorite interview.

Indeed. Something up Atlus' ass at the time apparently.

Thanks for posting that interview. Would've never understand what Ra.De. meant if I hadn't read that. Raging Decide (Those Who Conquer Gods).

Raging Decide makes no sense either. Perhaps "Raging Decision," or a decision made while in a rage, to be regretted later?

ESPrade, a stunning shmup PCB experience not to be missed!

I like the overall visual presentation that makes up the world of Cave's ESPrade PCB. Very interesting story of three ESPers trying to make things "right from wrong" against an evil lady and her army.

That is too bad that there isn't a port of ESPrade other than to acquire the PCB to be able to play it the proper way with an arcade cabinet or Supergun setup...of course, there's always the Mame/Mame32 emulation route to play ESPrade too. I believe there was an ESPrade rom dump for Raine emulation as well. ^_~

But Raging Deicide. (going off on a god-killing spree) makes perfect sense.

Nice ENgrish there.

I actually like the mispelling better. It's so Engrish, you can never forget it.
