Trust me I know drama. I try to live without it. Like I said I am not trying to intentionally not credit you. For that I am sorry. This isn't Neo-Geo.com though and no need to get all personal about it.Elixir wrote:Yes, you made the thread, but that actually has nothing to do with it. What I disputed was your post where you posted my translation; you linked to the original post M2 made but you didn't credit the person who translated it, and that was me. The sensible thing to do was to reply with "oh, sorry, my bad", not "just post your crap on the forums instead lol". Seriously, this is not hard to understand. It just shows you have a lack of empathy.Tokyo-J wrote:I am not taking any credit for your post. I just copied it to update what is going on with M2 Shottriggers. This post on this forum I am the Original POSTER. So it is ok for me to update my post if I want to.
I linked the original Tweet from M2. So shoot me! Literally you are over reacting and seem to be going through some kind of personal crisis. I really appreciate but what you do for the scene but your superiority complex is not needed.
Example can be found here: https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sr78s7
Since you feel the need to make light of a serious situation, a website I was partnered with abandoned me barely 3 weeks in, and I was not paid nor compensated in any fashion for hundreds of hours of esports work. I'm well within my right to address it. There's nothing I wrote in that twitlonger which is out of line, because it's the reality of the situation. I am not obligated to continue doing shmup news the rest of my life, this entire forum doesn't have my audience or on-topic focus. And as thrilling as it is having game developer #2534 and publisher #3445 clout chasing me for exposure, actually getting recognition myself while limited to this genre is difficult and it's a serious problem both for me, devs, publishers, and the genre as a whole.
Maybe I'd be able to "relax and enjoy the scene" more if I didn't have have to put up with continual drama, like clowns claiming I'm plagiarising people's translations. Because, you know, that's a totally realistic thing to say to someone who has been doing shmup news for 11 years. You have no idea what kind of inside drama I'm subject to on a frequent basis. Don't worry though, I've been enjoying the scene for years without participating frequently on the forum and I'm glad I gave people a way to do so.Tokyo-J wrote:I am not trying to take credit or intentionally copying your work for any gain whatsoever.. I did not make a new thread. I updated a post I made with a question a bit ago. Getting into a spat when I was just winking and being playful you taking all of this way too seriously and letting your emotions get the best of you. Take a deep breathe relax and enjoy the scene

Since the whole topic is derailed I might as well ask, did you know there's a private message feature on this forum? In the post you have a problem with, click the little PM icon at the bottom and then you can bicker all you want without giving others stomach sickness.
Now if arguing and chaos are encouraged on this forum then that's pretty cool and I can't wait to start fucking up some threads of my own!

Trying to get back on topic...
(Personally, I am guessing that they may go for a Sega Ages or "3d Classics style approach with individual digital releases and possibly an anthology physical much later on)
Looking at the tweet, I'm pretty sure Horii is saying that M2 have a wide selection of titles already running, and he is mulling over the approach for releasing the games. The "bang bang" onomatopoeia is indicating a large degree (as in "M2 has lots of titles running already") as far as I can tell here.6t8k wrote: Also, I believe we may have a first hint that it will be a collection. Here, Horii says they're mulling over a title, a tentative one being: "Bang Bang" (onomatopoeic localization could perhaps be "pewpew" )

Re: So what is the deal with M2 Shot Triggers? Any new games
So has there been any news lately about Shot Triggers? I finally got around to making a Japanese PSN account and buying Mahou Daisakusen, so I now have all of the shot trigger titles so far.
I'm still hoping for physical releases of Dangun Feveron, Mahou Daisakusen, and Battle Garegga (a Japanese non-limited print with an actual disc). Maybe it could happen as part of a M2 Shot Triggers Complete Collection or something down the line. Or maybe there could even be sets for each company, like one for Cave, one for Raizing, one for Toaplan, etc.

There have been two physical copies of Garegga. There's a Korean version you can get for reasonably cheap, and one from Limited Run that is probably a bit more on the scalper side.cave hermit wrote:So has there been any news lately about Shot Triggers? yeah, right now we're just waiting to hear more about the Toaplan releases and what kind of features and such that will include. i'm still wondering if each of the announced games are getting their own M2 release or if they'll be released in packs of four.

I wonder if M2 dev already figured out the W10 issue. So they can release everything on Steam.

They're location testing Kyukyoku Tiger for the upcoming port and it's using Windows. Have they figured out PC porting finally? https://www.taito.co.jp/event/000966

All of their location tests have been on windows machines. There's a huge gap between "running on windows" and "can be played on any consumer PC".

Re: So what is the deal with M2 Shot Triggers? Any new games
Batrider never has had an official port, and I think it is good game - neither did Bakraid.
Ibara only had PS2 port, but I doubt it would get ported prior to those due to its lower popularity when compared to some other shooters (even though I think it is YGW's best game despite the soft porn).

I hope they include this loketest version of Kyuukyoku Tiger with the proper ShotTriggers release. It makes me wonder if there's any changes to the scoring. I would hope so!
I theorized that they would add some type of lives and bombs remaining bonus, in order to make sure folks wouldn't milk checkpoints for days. But who knows?

It is a bit frustrating, because you know these can't take that long to emulate, and even add the gadgets to. But you get like one or two a year. I'm not gonna live forever, M2.Bassa-Bassa wrote:They're busy with shitty minis, wait 10 years.

I've had so much fun with the TG16 mini and Megadrive mini this year that, honestly, I think it's a totally fair trade. We're lucky to even be getting things like HD versions of Sapphire, MUSHA, Spriggan, Slap Fight MD, etc. I can't even hate. Take your time M2.

out of curisosity: does anybody know how many developers actually work at M2? They're running a lot of projects side by side these days.

hopefully the mini console craze is over now... so they can actually start releasing games again.
I know the game gear micro is coming in october... is M2 behind the emulation ? I have no idea.

They are.
The time they're taking is all of it, they've stated more than once that arcade ports and original M2 titles had to be placed in the fridge due to the minis (and the laughable Sega Ages of the recent years). That's your trade.
A "totally fair trade"? Not getting ever home versions of some of the best arcade games in history due to having them dedicated to porting once and again the same home games which could be already played in many other better ways, "HD" or not? Kidding, right?Jonpachi wrote:I've had so much fun with the TG16 mini and Megadrive mini this year that, honestly, I think it's a totally fair trade. Dude, relax. M2 still has to put food on the table and be able to afford to do less commercially successful work. If the minis are the way for them to do that, great. Many people enjoy them.Bassa-Bassa wrote:They are.

Dude, I think you failed to get my point. I'm not mad at M2, I'm mad at the people enjoying the minis and making them successful.
Re: So what is the deal with M2 Shot Triggers? Any new games
You're mad at people getting high quality ports of nearly unobtainable games? I've long wanted to start up a PC Engine collection, but it's just way outside the realm of affordability. Having Sapphire, Spriggan and Soldier Blade running on HDMI with quality emulation is a dream come true. I get that you're wishing for more arcade ports, and that's fine, but no need to take it out on people enjoying the current output.Bassa-Bassa wrote:Dude, I think you failed to get my point. Re: So what is the deal with M2 Shot Triggers? Any new games
Not specifically developers, but according to their company profile, M2 has 51 employees altogether. The people more closely associated with M2 ShotTriggers form a small subset of that, maybe around 10 people, at least around the time when the project was formed (see e.g. this interview). I could imagine that the number is a little higher now, but it could also be a question of semantics whom to number among them. Total number of developers would most certainly be higher than that – but should give a ballpark figure.Fudoh wrote:out of curisosity: does anybody know how many developers actually work at M2? Re: So what is the deal with M2 Shot Triggers? Any new games
I agree with the sentiments expressed here - both the Mega Drive Mini and, in particular, the wonderful PC Engine Mini, are terrific releases. Would I like to see M2 releasing more console ports? Of course. Would I like to see them releasing stuff on PC? More than anything! But I'm just pleased the studio is getting regular work and is in rude health. Bodes well for the future.

What? Why be mad at anyone enjoying video games? That's what I mean by relax.Bassa-Bassa wrote:Dude, I think you failed to get my point. I'm not mad at M2, I'm mad at the people enjoying the minis and making them successful.
I think we all (those of us on a shoot em up forum!) want more and better releases all the time. If it's profitable, we'll eventually get them.
What I mean by relax is don't get upset others are enjoying something, enjoy what you have now. There's probably more games in the world right now than any human could ever play, go check 'em out!
By the way, I understand, and share your passion!
Re: So what is the deal with M2 Shot Triggers? Any new games
You are right on there being SO many great games at the moment. I truly think that if I live to be 80, I still may not get to play all the games I want. There's literally too many games Im interested in. I actually have to skip on many games and just stick to the few I really want. Not to mention my backlog that I have. We truly are in a great time of video games. Both old and new school stuff.XtraSmiley wrote:What? Why be mad at anyone enjoying video games? Hey, some of those SEGA AGES games are great. AFAIK the Thunder Force ports have the lowest latency (3 frames) of any STG on the Switch.Bassa-Bassa wrote: The time they're taking is all of it, they've stated more than once that arcade ports and original M2 titles had to be placed in the fridge due to the minis (and the laughable Sega Ages of the recent years).
