Looking for spaceship templates for 3D printing

Post by Samuray »

Disclaimer: I have no idea about 3D printing. But I would absolutely love to have a small collection of spaceships....iconic shapes like Vic Viper, R-9 Arrowhead, X002, the Darius ships...you know.

So I just met someone who actually owns such a printer but he says we would need templates to do this. Makes sense. I checked for those and came across a solid looking Vic Viper, a R-9 I'm a little iffy about and....that's it.
There are so many great ships....gotta be able to find more, right?

Can anyone help and point me in the right direction of (free) templates? Hell, maybe there are even Parodius vessels available somewhere?

I'd appreciate any and all input. Thanks!!!

Can you share your links ?

If you go print you set the layer size to the lowest for highest quality, takes very long time.
You can also scale the ships to size you like.

If there only was a way to find these meshes in a game disc, convert and print.
Take gradius-V CD and load the mesh.

I'm in a bit of a rush right now but I just checked Google or Ecosia for "Gradius Vic Viper 3d print template" and went from there. The R-9 was on the same site, but sadly no others. Oh wait, Galaga too.

I can't make heads nor tails of google sketchup but theres a nice little free tool called milkshape that I used to mess around with. Below represents about a couple of hours work:

This was made for a Starfleet Command III mod probably 15 years ago. The files are out there somewhere, if the SFCIII modding site is still around. Someone took it and managed to convert it into a papercraft.

Is milkshape not a virus ?
Better use blender.
