Getting a proper DoDonPachi vibe from some of those shots. Fingers crossed for it being as awesome.

Echo the comments that this looks lovely. Will probably be a year or so after AC release for it to hit consoles so I'm not worried.

Some footage of the game was released today in a stream. You can check it out at this time-stamp!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqpMOVVYevg&start=1783

Has a little bit of doujin feel to it, but it's trending in the right direction! I seem to recall them emphasizing that multiplayer is a good way to play this game (am I making this up?). If so I hope it's more of a unique multiplayer hook.

As a retro-throwback, I'm hoping it can do well enough to stand out from the pack!

Thanks for sharing, I've never bought a new STG, only ports of old stuff so I can't wait for this to come out. Not a fan of the graphic style but I know the gameplay will be there in spades. The multiplayer angle gets me supah pumped since most shooters feel a bit strange when not flying solo.

This is running on PC based hardware right? I assume there may be a PC port of this after the arcade release.

The time stamp isn't working for me for some reason. What time is it at?

Thanks.

The constant cuts make it a little hard to get a feel for the gameplay, but it still definitely has my interest.

It looks like you can switch between four ships or you auto change when one dies. After that you have an opportunity to regenerate the ships you lost overtime. I guess you have to pick up an ABC or D lettered power up to change ship, That's kind of odd. Collecting the P power ups build a gauge that allows you to obtain the main point Items. you can only get the P items from destroying missiles and flying enemies based off whats in the footage. It looks like some bullet canceling is going on connected to the filled up P gauge, but I can't tell how it works exactly based off the footage. It seems to work differently in two parts of the video.

Looks good overall, but I'm not crazy about the character portraits. Also I can tell the game will look better in some better quality footage.

Looks like a great proof-of-concept build, but also looks to be quite a ways off. Many of those patterns seem like first-pass or placeholder, so perhaps core design tuning has not even really begun yet. That said, I have faith in this one and am looking forward to seeing how it comes together.

Looks very promising, based on the footage, though the short snippets make it hard to really glean much from the gameplay. One snippet with a bit of slowdown almost made it seem like it had an Espgaluda style system to slow bullets, but I could have been reading that wrong.

Thanks, looking great with good movement.
Looking forward to buying this.

Only downside is those peoples big heads in screen for me, to many character story not good.
And i dont read japanese.

I'm a bit disappointed.
I was hoping it would be more in style with the classic Toaplan games, but this looks more like yet another Cave styled bullet hell game.

And WHY do every shmup these days have to include anime girls??
There better be an option to turn of the voices, because I just can't stand the constant chatter and high pitched screaming, that are usually included in these games.
What happened to just having a silent pilot in the ships?
I hate this annoying trend.

Great pixel graphics though.

You are right steel.
When can not disable voices i dont buy.
Best to disable anime heads in screen also.

When i buy games ( and i buy a lot ) i just look :
As soon as i see any game with these dragon-ball-type-drawings i look further and ignore.

For example i dont mind how that helicopter game on DC/PS3 is : under defeat, when you win you see a girl relaxing, the further you get shows more relaxing pictures.

Then you have this game : caldarius blaze, you see naked girls.
The girls cover half the screen, or when 2-player, 2 times half the screen, looks just like this new M2 battle blade, it sucks.
If they make the heads really small on the downside of the screen i dont mind, and ofcourse no voices.
The voices in caldarius have to be disabled every time the game is started, else still voices ( bug ).
Caldarius was really cheap and fits the genre, i would not pay 80 euro.

When importing battle-blade cost me 80 euro total, so better make it good M2.

What kind of slave-driver is the M2 boss with only 1 programmer ?
The artist also have time to fill in the meanwhile, therefore you have these sucky anime in screen.

If something like this turns you off in 2020 for aesthetics reasons, you indeed must have been in the wrong for too many years now. Japanese colorful pixel art is to anime as kart racing is to Formula 1. A wannabe.

Time to update the OP?

I guess we should have known with how those P-Chips always behaved in the early footage.
