Quick note to the legendary hordes of Patriotic Sensible Moderates out there that I keep hearing excited tales about, as well as anyone placing hope in them for 2020: if you consider yourself Really Decent and find yourself in a prime position to advance the decency you claim to stand for, but instead choose to stand expediently and obediently by again and again and again and again and again and again, YOU ARE NOT FUCKING DECENT.

It's almost as if liberals are aligned with capital, huh?

God did they loathe Martin King Jr. and other people like him. While he was alive. Much like the native americans, once you're dead or broken - harmless in either way - then we're allowed to shower them with empty platitudes.

But mending a busted treaty even a little bit is communism, of course.

I gave up on Trump after the first Syrian strike years ago. You must not have been paying attention. The only way I can see anything resembling 5D chess is if Iran retaliates by killing James Comey or something lol.

Glancing back at the old right wing forum I used to troll, they seem utterly thrilled at our country's latest acts of terrorism. Just like the people who said the people in Grenfell Tower deserved to burn to death because they were poor, the cruelty is the point.

Liberals: can you explain who Joe Biden floating the idea of running against Donald Trump with a running mate of Donald Trump (that's peak Democrat right there) or Buttigieg saying we need to commit "smarter" acts of terrorism is supposed to win over exactly?

Rich Democratic donors who like Trump's tax cuts but feel uneasy about the whole Nazi thing.

Basically all my political attention these days is pointed at donoteat01's youtube channel, rather than electoralism. Looking at cold mechanical issues is cathartic in a way.

There's something soothing about all these horror engineering disasters that could be easily preventable if those who held power cared even a little. Much more relaxing than watching in real time how the galaxy-brained guys proclaiming "the end of history" might have been more literal than metaphorical about their objectives and accomplishments.
Mischief Maker wrote:What the fuck is Warren doing? The only candidate this helps is Biden.
Liz is Hillary/Ronald Reagan but knows that she has to symbolically shake her fist at banks to get a +1% election margin. Her primary objective is amassing personal wealth and status, as established by history. Which means her entire function is to try to deny Sanders reaching the 50%+1 delegates he needs to win the nomination. (Protecting Joe Manchin and ilk, proves she doesn't want any of the marginal reform stuff she talks about to actually happen. To actually want something would require actually taking efforts toward achieving it, instead of nothing, or, as is in this case, doing the exact opposite of what you need to do to see it happen.)

It is really, really goddamn obvious she wants to be Biden's VP. Like how Christie hoped Trump would give him something, there's at least a wonderfully high chance she'll be fucked out of the scoobie snack she's cravenly hoping to get for herself. (Especially because we all know Klobuchar's gonna be the VP pick. That would be worth a guffaw at Liz's expense, if it actually meant anything considering Trump would be re-elected so the promises of a seat for Liz at the slow kid's table are a boogum. ....God they're really gross.)

She's always been a ghoul - like with Obama and Trump how the hopeless will project what they wish to be true upon them in their desperation. And such frauds are more than happy to exploit them. In particular, her massive support of war with Iran is a far bigger deal than this middle school popularity contest stuff.

we've had this conversation before : )

and by : ) , I mean imagine I looked into the covenant of the ark and my face is melting off while going : )

I keep telling you man. VP.

They're not deluded enough to think they can jack up her numbers. They're backing Biden / Warren / Buttigieg for the early states, see who to consolidate behind. A VP is almost always someone seen as harmless who never had a chance of being nominated.

Yeah, dunno how Warren's staff convinced her that she could have any spot in a Biden administration when Clinton already gave her the cold shoulder.

Especially given how the last few months have been stories about how Wall Street was freaking out over her (before they took Bernie seriously).

Ironically, Warren was only palatable to the establishment as the lesser evil to Sanders. Unless she manages to steal a surprise close-second in Iowa she's toast now and they have no reason to give her anything. Nobody likes a snake.

I thought I was over it, but "they endorsed Warren and Klobuchar!" still made me laugh today damnit!
__

Pumping up an offscreen "Hillary, but she's from the midwest!"... This kind of vapid peer-pressure "like/hate X because the group likes/hates x" is exceeding effective if your social community is the people on TV. (Older people who have no friends or family left are really susceptible to this. Television is the entirety of their social world for a ton of them.)

All those people who have "bad" feelings about say, Al Sharpton through such passive osmosis, but are unable to articulate why are a great example of the opinion of the crowd being weaponized. I remember talking to a guy online over a decade ago and he was talking about how he hated Obama's "Chicago" style politics.

How the corrupt festering pus that is the Chicago political apparatus is any different than the corrupt festering pus that is politics almost everywhere in this country exactly, was a question that hadn't occurred to him apparently.
Warren's staff convinced her
Honestly she probably hasn't made a single big decision for herself.

It's kind of funny how liberalism has this extremely exaggerated view on the power of individualism (to the point of being a cartoon) and all these campaigns end up being exactly the same as one another because the systems that control them are the same. You have Biden making Hillary speeches, Warren doing Joy Reid bits, Trump doing George W. Bush speeches (but of course with a bit of his own aesthetic as a garnish - republicans are the only ones allowed to have a personality!). It's wild and frankly creepy as hell when you're outside their ecosystem looking in.

Most ABT (anybody but who know who) people like myself simply aren't even following the DNC process. Frankly I think the # of actual undecided for November is minute. I mean, if you can't make a decision on Trump by now, you really should stay home on Nov 3rd. The Democratic nominee should make zero (I repeat zero) effect on which way you vote. They're a mixture of far left and center left, yes, but as we've seen for decades, they'll never pass a far left agenda in Congress. Not happening, meaning the phony "commie" scare tactics really mean nothing. If you can live with 4 more years of Trump, and I won't bother going into what that will mean/has meant, vote for him. If not, vote against him. This is without question going to be the most binary Presidential choice maybe that there's ever been. I feel like the midterms and specials have shown his support in the middle has fallen since 2016. However, turnout will hold the key in a small swath of states. That's pretty much it, it's very uncomplicated, and like I said, has made the Dem primaries really pointless for anyone but the candidates and their families and staff.

Yeah, I don't wish to derail this thread and bore people here with this shit, but I need to second that.

That guy and the political, economic and christian fundamentalists that support him are like a macabre congregation of the most vile, authoritarian, racist and violent traits of Brazil's and history and society.

And he's everybody's problem, especially since he's dead set on burning down the Amazon forest and wiping out it's native population at the behest of the local agribusiness sector, mining companies etc.

Biden's denial about his lifelong crusade to cut social security and medicare... it's such a vivid example of the generational gap and the absurd way elections are controlled in this country. In a freakin' amateur podcast, whenever there's a question on a matter of fact, they'll pause and take the 12 seconds it takes to look it up. If the function of the for-profit propaganda media outlets was to tell the actual truth, they'd play a montage of the old c-span footage every time Biden tried to cut this stuff.

I don't believe quash's claim about Krugman. Not because I think he's some morally upstanding citizen, no. But because I don't believe he's capable of using a computer.
