I joined the forum just for this excellent news, kinda gutted about unity though it's a resource hog among other things.

So let's talk about Aleste then. What is, by the way, the proper pronunciation of the title?

NH:
I don't know! I think we're going to choose the one that is pronounced the coolest and make it official.
One more reason to like M2.
There are basically two people. I'm working on planning and graphic design. The programmer [Masato Yamanaka] is working on game design, too. [...] But that young programmer is the world's best player of a certain shooting game, and that balances it out again.
Did I miss this tidbit from earlier in the topic someplace? I don't know many superplayer aliases, anyone have any idea which one this might be? Also didn't know the Flame Zapper Kotsujin guy was doing the character design.
Aleste is a very multi-faceted series and from title to title, there are different features. But there is one common denominator in the whole series, and that is its anime-like qualities.
Makes it all the more amusing that the Super Aleste US release cut all that stuff out, though it's still one of my favorites.

Oh my God... They're really taking the Contra: Hard Corps route, aren't they?

Aha, that's what that ship design was reminding me of.

That and the Dick Stock thread, obviously.

Portability to different platforms, maybe workflows and tooling if you're already accustomed to Unity (and community support if you're not).

Weren't we supposed to get more news about Aleste Branch this month? Something about in-game footage being unveiled in late December, and here we are, but still nothing...

Updates are announced sparingly with shmups. Best to just bide your time and when a tidbit of info is announced be happy about it.

In other news, I finally made an article of Ellinor Waizen on the Heroes Wiki.

^ This is possibly just referring to the "ver. 2.0" part of the title that you see e.g. in the title screen (compare e.g. the cover art in display here).

He doesn't have an alias, he goes by his name in kanji, 山中将人. He's competitive in quite a few games, Garegga being the big one.

Still no news on this one? Didn't they plan to publish first video footage in last December?

They did just release some footage on Battle Blade. Seem to have so damn many projects going on all of a sudden, who knows how close to their schedule they're going to be able to keep...

I always assume everything with an early announcement will be delayed.

R-Type Final 2 missed its window for an April demo and has been radio silent the last few months. I'd be shocked if that one makes it out in 2020.

I really want this game to come out sometime this year... I don’t want to have to wait until next year for this...

The M2 stream had a short trailer, didn't catch it but someone gif'd it https://twitter.com/Tracker_TD/status/1 ... 5491528704

Looking pretty good. I hope it's multiplatform since it's being developed on Unity (had a nightmare it was EXA exclusive and almost woke up screaming)

M2 using Unity sounds like some kind of joke

But I'm sure if anyone's able to make Unity purr, it would be them...

Finally have an update on Aleste Branch. And holy shit, the game looks really good. Getting some serious CAVE vibes here...

We also have a compilation of several Aleste games. It's unfortunate it doesn't include Aleste 2, M.U.S.H.A., Super Aleste, or Robo Aleste, but at least it's better than nothing.

It looks like they made it just two SMS and two GG games, so they could put it on a GG mini. :/

They should have put Aleste 2, M.U.S.H.A., and GG Aleste on there instead. That way we'd have the entire Ellinor Waizen trilogy in time for Aleste Branch.

I would have picked the MSX version of Aleste over the SMS one since it has cutscenes and more stages. It's also directly connected to Aleste 2 and stars Elinor's daddy.
