Deathsmiles PCB versions
Is there more than one ROM version of the Deathsmiles PCB (not Mega Black Label)?

TL;DR: Not really, but there was:
"Deathsmiles : DIE Cave Festival Special Version" which was a prototype that never was released outside of Cave festivals.

The SH-3 powered Deathsmiles sure looks awesome on a 15.7kHz standard jamma candy cab setup (compared to the 360 version with it's high-res treatment). Great to fire it up during the Halloween season or any ol' day. Cool to hear that a prototype "festival" DS pcb was made -- will it ever resurface elsewhere on another gaming platform?

Sadly, probably not. I'd suspect it may be one of those things like DDP Campaign where it'll likely never be released. If it's a prototype though, they could consider it too buggy/unfinished to be worth releasing anyways compared to something like a Black Label version that's made after the fact.
If we're lucky though, it might accidentally fall into the public's hands the way that Saidaioujou PCB did that was discovered to be a development version with debugging options including hitbox display!

Never say never, I guess? The Cave Matsuri version of Ketsui finally made it out to retail, after all
I guess since it's considered a precusor to MBL though, that could be an argument for it not being worth releasing.

Yeah, Mushi Futari's older 1.01 appears to be mostly disavowed, appearing only as a special first print run, probably done knowing only the hardcore fans would ever want to play it after the massive rebalancing on 1.5. Of course, we don't know what the state of this Deathsmiles prototype is so it may be it was a demo build that wasn't even considered "complete" yet.
