GD: Ketsui Deathtiny (PS4) Menu Translations

Post by CloudyMusic »

I realize this game has been out for almost a year, but I hadn't really played much of this at the time, and I still occasionally receive requests to write this up. Sorry for the delay! Let me know if I missed anything, there's a lot of stuff in this game relative to previous M2 STG releases.

Pause Menu

自機セレ後: After ship select
LOAD直後: At Quick Load point

Game Setting

System Setting

遅延対応設定: Input delay reduction. ON = less delay.
リプレイ自動登録設定: Automatically save replays. If off, it will prompt you after every run. If turned on and your replay storage is full, the lowest-scoring replay that you have not "locked" will be overwritten.
オートスタート: Auto-start. If on, the game will automatically start up your last-selected game mode after the opening movie has finished playing.

Other Setting

Cボタン連射決定: C button autofire

BGM「ARCADE」のサウンド再現: Reproduce PCB-faithful sound limitations when selecting "Arcade" BGM

ロックオン効果音の音量: Lock-on sound effect volume
  • 小: Quiet
  • 中: Moderate
  • 大: Loud
機体セレクト時の制限時間: Ship selection time limit (30 sec or 99 sec)

Thanks a lot for your efforts! I really stumbled through the menus, mostly by trial and error, when I first got the game a few months back.
遅延対応設定: Input delay reduction. ON = less delay.
Forgive me if this comes across a little nit-picky. Google translates this as "Chien taiō settei" (Delay support setting).
This partial translation mentions this as "Lag emulation: OFF, ON".

Are you sure ON reduces delay and not vice-versa?

Edit: for what it's worth, Garegga reduces lag when the setting is "1" (english manual). So this might function the same.

Yeah, I'm not going for a 1:1 "literal" translation or anything (as dubious of a concept as that usually is). I'm just concerned with communicating what the settings actually do.

I am pretty confident that "ON" for the input delay support setting reduces lag. The informational text for that setting translates to something along the lines of "in play environments with slow monitors or input latency, actions will be taken to reduce the game-side latency." It'd be pretty strange for a setting worded like that to actually do what it says when "off," but if anyone can demonstrate it to be true, I'd be happy to revise it, of course!

You're right that Garegga uses 0/1, which caused no shortage of confusion at first, until M2 revised the text to make it a little more explicit which setting actually did what.

Thanks for the feedback!

Which is appreciated!

I had just noticed the difference to the aforementioned, indeed less-trustworthy translation, which I had used up until now, and wanted to make sure, since I care about lag and stuff (I don't want to come across as if I had been able to make a modicum of sense out of the Google translation).

Consequently, going to switch that setting to "ON" now. ;)
