I had a rare opportunity to play the Xevious original arcade machine once at finnish game museums coin op competition. (I won)

Xevious (series)
Re: Xevious (series)
Apparently the Japanese 3D/G+ isn't that great because it has a lot of slowdown for at least 3D/G. Bleh.
Making one topic for the entire series was clearly a bad idea. Oh well.

Uh. Well. There are two different games called Fardraut Saga. The PC Engine one also has a "Fardraut" mode. Which one did you play?

Re: Xevious (series)
Sorry for the confusion-- I haven't gotten clear on this yet. I'm playing the PCE game card and my screen looks like the one a few posts above (minus the good score), so I must be playing Fardraut mode? Is the other Fardraut Saga also on the PC Engine release?
Re: Xevious (series)
They seem to be wildly different games, though I think they were both made by the same team? I'll just put you in PC Engine Fardraut for now. It's the only playable mode in either version, I think.
Still regreting ever making this topic...

Xevious (Arcade)
SPM - 710,450 - 2-16 - No - MAME
The run: Xevious (1982) - Most Secrets 1-All // 2-16, 710k
(I also added timestamps for the location of every secret - 45 Sol towers and 4 Extra lives)
I was aiming for a 1-all with all/most secrets and a good 1-16 clear (that is, finishing the loop without dying in the last 30% of area 16), so here it is.
I'm glad I finally got into it! Its presentation had put me off before, but it has grown on me and the game is much more engaging than it looks, especially when trying to destroy most enemies and reveal most secrets, without autofire/spamming bombs (there's something really satisfying in this game about landing a bomb right where you need it, when you need it).
