90s Japanese Video Game TV Shows

Post by rancor »

So this Japanese Youtuber is uploading an insane amount of video-game themed Japanese TV from the 90s. I'm doing my best to download it all as it appears, because stuff like this always disappears without notice for one reason or another. Anyhow, I'd love some help - and if you can't help, watch what you can so we can all reminisce about it when it invariably gets taken down or deleted:

Wow. VHS source as well, clearly. Big ups to both of you.

EDIT: Actually in a couple of those it looks like laser rot, from what I remember.

My internet is too shitty to help, but it's awesome that you are helping to preserve this. I'll watch some of these while they are up for shits and giggles.

@GP: I have a pretty good handle on what laser rot is now if you want to give me some timestamped links I can give you my .02 on it.

Thanks.

Yeah that's definitely what it looks like. It's not what I would call severe (a bunch of speckling "snow" and/or distorted audio) but I think it's too prevalent to just be a few scratches. Which from what I can tell usually manifest in a slightly different way from that anyway.

That PC Land show is the weirdest of them all. I had no idea that there was a dedicated PC Engine TV show.
First of all, the first 15 minutes usually have nothing to do with games at all. The ones that I've seen have had a karate demonstration, a visit to a "performance pig" show, and then a show about roller skating. In the final 10 minutes they may talk about a few PC Engine games... lol.. It's really weird. All of the commercials are great though. Its funny to see that a shitty game like Hani on the Road actually had a TV commercial made for it - and it looks to have a higher budget than the game actually did.

I forget which one it was, but theres a Christmas special for one of the shows where they drop by the offices of Capcom, SNK, Sega, Natsume, and a few others - it was great to see the main headquarters of these places during their hey-days.

Pretty sure just about any office in Japan was way more upbeat then than it is now.

Anyway, great find. Quality posts that I expect from this forum. (Not even sarcasm!)

I thought these would be taken down or the uploader would stop, no such thing still going strong.
