I've heard mixed things... might give it a go. This would be one I'd watch while the GF sleeps. SciFi is a hard sell on her to begin with.

It's much more about the characters than the sci fi, especially in the early episodes.

Although part of the appeal of the show for me was watching in subtitled German and seeing how much I remembered from high school.
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

At least you have that. Sans Kore-eda's films, anything put out in Japanese these days is shit. TV especially so.

Do I even want to know? I've dug into live action TV series from a lot of countries, but never Japan.

Yeah... not familiar w/ any live action tv show from Japan with any values worth mentioning. Would loved to have found one over the years but they're so into their stupid food and "talent" garbage they've got not reason to.

Fleabag. Great. Rumor has it she wants that to be the end, but like a bunch of fucking Americans, Amazon is egging her own for another series. She stuck the landing... she should walk away. But we'll see.

Started The Boys. 2 eps in. Hooked. Production quality-wise best thing Amazon Studios has made. Anyone else man-crushing a bit on Karl Urban?

Is The boys an adaptation of Garth Ennis' comic, by chance?
Chomsky, Buckminster Fuller, Yunus and Glass would have played Battle Garegga, for sure.

For sure. Gutted his DREDD movie never got that much deserved sequal. The Boys is a great show, I put in my tip some week ago here.

The Boys is fun yeah.

Been watching Legion, I don't know if I like it or not, sure looks original and aesthetic, it's trippy, but it is so much you might overdose.

Been tempted to watch it, mainly b/c of his excellent work with Fargo. I'm not much of a super hero guy though.

Legion wasn't casual, sure, but a bit grinding. I can recommend The Exorcist if you want some freaky shit.

Well I've only seen S1 so far and it's not much of a superhero thing, it's more like Inception on shrooms or something.

I dunno, "The Boys" just didn't grab me.

I thought the Amazon take on The Tick did a much better superhero deconstruction. (Not as good as the cartoon, obviously, but better than the previous live action attempt).
Spoiler
And a much more entertaining "Scary Superman" character.
The Boys just leaves me feeling like I need to take a shower after each episode.

Also watching Ash vs Evil Dead season 3. Still the same one-trick pony, but it's a pretty damned entertaining trick.
Spoiler
Though I'm still disappointed they gave a name and a face to the "evil."

Watched the two seasons of Disanchantment, and liked the show.

Then found kinda harsh critics on the fuckternets. People aren't happy that it's kinda slow and not packing as much of Groening's trademark humor as Futurama.

Personally I find that change of pace and tone relaxing, it may not be flashy but somehow I think TV needs more stuff that you can watch quietly and enjoy for simpler qualities it dispenses at the right time and dosage.

TL;DR not being overly ambitious nor tailored for an audience is probably what makes Disanchantment interesting and good.

Kopitiam was recommended to me on netflix so I took a chance. English language show from Malaysia that is funny as heck. Enjoying it, and I hope it doesn't get taken down anytime soon.

watched all of tng for the first time this year and am currently hitting the end of ds9. me and my roommate have been having a great time, i didnt' expect her to love the show nearly as much as she did and thought this was something i'd be watching by myself. hit the episode "pale moonlight" in season 6 just before bed - heavy stuff!! watching sisko compromise his morals is a bit painful :[ god i rly love garak, tho, he's such a delightful piece of shit.

Played by Andy Robinson of Dirty Harry infamy - he was so shamelessly evil as the former's villain, he apparently got death threats IRL. He also tended to ruin takes by cracking everyone up with his ad-libs, at least one of which was adopted for the script. He's brilliant in Hellraiser too, a film that really shows his range (without wanting to spoil, if you've not seen it).

The Dirty Harry movies start to get pretty weak. First couple I remember being excellent though.
