As for BCS, it is?
Yea, it's pretty fucking good and it's only gotten better (particularly any scene involving Mike). I've enjoyed it more than BB, which dragged on too long.

Other TV:

Still plenty of good material
AMC: The Terror
HBO: Chernobyl
USA: Mr. Robot. Baffled this show rarely gets mentioned on here, it's phenomenal.

GoT: I'm also indifferent, and have been since season 6 when they lost their play-by-play guidebook (i.e. "no more" Martin material). I'm far more interested in the books than the show. Fire & Blood (prequel that has nothing to do with the confirmed HBO prequel) was released prior to The Winds of Winter, and per Martins cyclical self-assessment commentary, "has been going very well lately". Hopefully a late-2020 / early 2021 release.

Mr. Robot going on a long hiatus (was it cancelled and brought back for one last season?) didn't help for a lot of people I'm sure. I enjoyed the first two seasons a lot, but haven't watched the 3rd yet.

The first 3 seasons were like clockwork. It wasn't cancelled (and brought back) but didn't get renewed and confirmed for a 4th and final season until the 3rd had already aired. Much of this at the behest of the shows creator, Sam Esmail, who didn't want to drag it out; it's unusual for a show to naturally end/cancel. I'd rather a minor 'hiatus' and done correctly than modular, pre-manufactured shit or two assholes tossing darts to determine the trajectory of the plot.

Ah okay. I just remember watching it then not hearing anything about it and never did dig any deeper on it. I'll definitely watch the 4th season.

No -- they just did the "let's go out w/ a bang so we're doing one long last season' route. It is indeed quite good. Ironically, it turns out a childhood friend's wife writes for the show, and I see them when they are in town. Rare, but it's fun to pick her brain and see how those shows are made.

Over drinks once, before season 2 started, she apparently blurted out the big reveal which happens around episode 7 or so. I was luckily too smashed to pick up on it. Looking forward to the last season.

Even if you don't buy into the story, it is amazingly shot for a movie, much less a TV show.

Sam Esmail said after season one he had a roughly 5 season arc in mind. So, this elongated season seems like it will work. I'm also sure Rami Malek is fucking expensive now.

If only that's how it was done at Netflix. AI influenced plot direction? Barrfff

I've been crashing w/ a friend the last few weeks and he takes a subscription to multiple sites (netflix, hulu, hbo, etc, etc). Last sub I had was w/ Netflix years ago when they mailed dvds. The amount of garbage they churn out is staggering.

Watching Chernobyl, on HBO. It's amazing. The Sovjet Union was a terrifying place.

The Little Drummer Girl (2018), mini-series based on John Le Carré's novel. Directed by Chan-wook Park. Great cast too.

Started season 4 of The Wire. Tommy is such an unlikeable asshole. Nothing about his subplot has really gone anywhere or tied into anything yet, but it's kinda nice watching him self destruct. I dig Snoop quite a bit, even though I find a lot of what she says difficult to understand.

I want to clarify something for a moment. I've defended the final season of Game of Thrones a lot more than most people online have. And there's nothing wrong with someone's opinions evolving. After reading into the plot holes, and idiotic character inconsistencies a bit more (A Youtube channel by the name of 'Supercuts Delight' has a really good video pointing out all of the many problems with season eight) I've come to the conclusion that season eight of Game of Thrones is unmitigated garbage. It's a shame the show had to go out the way that it did, but I'm not going to dwell any longer on it.
There was a time, in the era of great chaos, when the Earth and the moon were at war with each other. A daredevil from the moon piloted a bizarre aircraft. It was feared, and because of its shape, called... Einhander.

I still don't know what people expected after Season 7 -- the slow burn of every season before it was long gone.

If you guys needed Game of Thrones fanfiction that badly as written by someone who doesn't understand Game of Thrones, you'all could've just asked me to whip something up. I've only read the first book once 15 years ago, remember squat, and would probably get some things mixed up with Touched By Venom a bit. And The Dragon Reborn, probably.

.... that made me check if there was already a Wheel of Time Hobo series to cash in on this "use necromancy on old nerd stuff to get some cash out of normies" trend. It's not Hobo - it's Amazon.

Weird.

(If Touched By Venom gets a TV series or movie made, then we really know we're living in a parody computer simulation world.)

Alas I have no more new episodes of Star Trek TNG to watch. Few weak episodes in season seven but it finished strongly, which it deserved to.

We will probably start DS9 at some point and there is that new Picard series on the horizon:D
My lord, I have come for you.

Remember Dark (2017) ? netflix's German time travel mindfuck drama series.

Well season 2 is available but I can't remember like 96% of season 1, so it seems almost pointless to watch s2 without re-watching s1.

Which makes me wonder if I will even bother with s2...

Just finished True Detective season 3.
Spoiler
oof
To say that it was a nice change of pace from season 2 would be an understatement, but it also did a good job of not simply reiterating season 1 (from what I remember of it).
Spoiler
I think the way the story was structured was very clever. It really cements that the story isn't really about the twists and turns of the detectives building a case, but about being touched by a tragedy shapes people's lives.

The only bit that I thought was truly lame was when they leave the one-eyed man after hearing his confession shouting "punish me!" from off screen.

The other seasons went all-in on the "conspiracy to cover up/impede investigation" angle, which was in the mix but ultimately felt less significant, especially given how the story ended for the missing girl. Still I would have preferred to keep the pressure from the politicians /police higher ups to end the investigation be more to do with "normal" political/PR pressures/ incompetence (rather than the pizzagate illuminati conspiracy that one assumes is at the root of everything) - that would have been a good way to subvert expectations. Well, they still do, and it works the way they did it.

In fact I'm struggling to find much room for improvement at all. It's been a long while I've watched a TV show this good.

Fleabag - "A comedy series adapted from the award-winning play about a young woman trying to cope with life in London whilst coming to terms with a recent tragedy" by fucking as much as possible. Hysterical.

Killing Eve - Written by Fleabag writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge, "After a series of events, the lives of a security operative and an assassin become inextricably linked". Jodie Comer is brilliant as Villanelle. Excellent dark-comedy.

Catch-22 - "Limited series adaptation of the classic Joseph Heller novel. Follows Captain John Yossarian and airmen in World War II". Better than the film adaptation but still missing pivotal characters and relationships.

The fact that it stuck the landing all 3 times (fingers crossed for the 4th) makes it a delight. I'll likely go through it all again before season 4 comes out.

Opinions on Doom Patrol? I adored Grant Morrison's run but I despise superheroes.

EDIT: and TV, in general.

Hated it. Still watched the full season for some reason, as someone suggested it would be better than the third season of Jessica Jones (it kinda was, as it didn't include cringeworthy lady-on-lady groping with zero chemistry), but I won't come back for more. Especially Brendan Fraser's over-the-top shouting his dialogue.

Started The Boys last night, with Karl Urban. It's great so far.

God have mercy, Game of Thrones shat itself and died. Image I'm glad you gents covered it already, I'd expect no less! :o It was so bad I actually bought (and read!) Fire & Blood*.

Concurring that they should've just adapted the fucking fourth and fifth books. Obviously there is some dry as dust stuff in there, but holy fuck. The obvious, fun, explodey stuff at least. The entire Greyjoy stable of Victarion (fuck me this guy is hilarious, especially with Moqorro in tow! VICTARION SMASH), Aeron and Euron (evil-ass muhfucka Image with his finger on the APOCALYPSE BUTTON ), Quentin and TEH TATTERED PRINCE (seriously, that would've been some Apocalypse Now shit in Astapor...), BARRISTAN TEH BOLD ("zomg we need big battles" read the books you flapping cunts!), even Darkstar and Arianne for the respective emo twink and GRRL POWER TEEHEE boxes.

Even the shit they did do would've probably been watchable, if it'd been across two ten-episode seasons. Oh well. I hope someone does an anime somewhere down the line.

Seconding GP, for the love of fuck watch Fargo. All three seasons are beautiful.

Oh you! But even here, amidst all the chalk dust and throat-clearing, there's lots of ill stuff! Cregan Stark is a real G! Also more ALYS RIVERS please George!
Some say that Alys Rivers merely raised a hand, and Ser Regis began to scream and clutch his head, until his skull burst apart, spraying blood and brains.
Yo! :o What is this SCANNERS shit! And WHAT IN SWEET FUCK happened with Balerion and Aerea?! And you gotta do more Dunk & Egg too, those are your best stuff (especially THE MYSTERY KNIGHT: Homo Vibes Daisakusen). And fuuuck, the first and fifth Blackfyre Rebellions need a TV miniseries each. Get off your fat fuckin ass! Or get ON it rather! Pls don't keel over George.

Dark (Netflix)

Watch this instead of Stranger Things season 3.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"
