Blue Wish Resurrection/Plus
Re: Blue Wish Resurrection/Plus
It's been a couple years since I posted in this thread, but recently got a decent score.
BWR+ - Original - Blue Wish
Wait/On - Guard/Off - Accel/Off - Timer/Yes
__SKYe - 35,611,090 - ALL
Yesterday, for the first time in probably over a year, I booted to play a couple credits, and got this on the very first try. Lost 3 lives, the first of which quite stupidly (wasted a couple bombs as well).
While the score's nothing to write home about, and I'm not exactly a good player quite yet, the thing I'm most happy with was noticing how much better I currently am, when compared to when I joined this forum. There were many spots where I more or less breezed through but thought, man, back then I would definitely have bombed or died.
Maybe it's also because I've been playing plenty of Cave games, which are considerably harder, but it felt much easier than I remembered it. Well, playing with wait on likely helped quite a bit.
Congrats to Emuser, by the way; I haven't visited this topic in a while, but that is a most fantastic score.

Re: Blue Wish Resurrection/Plus
Updated, and welcome back!
I decided to remove the TIMER field because it's messy to fit in the boards, but please be sure to note what you used etc. At some point I'm gonna revamp this thread a bit.
I want to split BWR and Plus into separate threads, so I have an excuse to split for Wait, but so many people did not specify Wait that I don't really want to. Blah.

Re: Blue Wish Resurrection/Plus
Thanks.
Removing it from the board is probably for the best; I highly doubt anyone is running a monitor at less than 60Hz (do those even exist today?), so the update rate is either 60hz or above, and since anything over 60Hz would be substantially faster I'm guessing players would notice if they we're not running at 60Hz and would comment on it.
As for the the scores that don't specify the wait mode, maybe place them in the wait/on category, since I believe that is its default state? Again, I'm sort of assuming that if you played the harder variant with wait off, you'd probably want to indicate it when you posted your score.
I was going to suggest PMing the players, but its very likely that they no longer remember whether it was on or off.
I will. My monitor is actually running at 60Hz now, though the game's settings were still from when it ran at 75Hz.Despatche wrote:I decided to remove the TIMER field because it's messy to fit in the boards, but please be sure to note what you used etc. At some point I'm gonna revamp this thread a bit.

That would also likely be for the best; having wait turned on makes some of the later patterns considerably easier. Though, yeah, in that case it is best to split the games into two threads, otherwise the first post will get pretty large.Despatche wrote:I want to split BWR and Plus into separate threads, so I have an excuse to split for Wait, but so many people did not specify Wait that I don't really want to. Re: Blue Wish Resurrection/Plus
The reason I added the TIMER field to begin with is because Timer and Vsync behave differently even on 60Hz. It's small, but I wanted to be sure there wasn't anything weird going on.
That's more or less the direction I was going. I didn't like having to put "unknown" tags next to a bunch of scores for Giga Wing and I'd really rather not do that here.

Re: Blue Wish Resurrection/Plus
Ah, understood.
Anyway, a bit late, but thanks for keeping this thread (and other hiscore threads) alive; it's really nice to know that I can return to this game(s) anytime, and there are folks that still care.
Yeah, maybe a warning on the first post saying that if any information is not included, then the default will be assumed, would be enough. After all, it is in the best interest of the player to provide the information -- if not for bragging rights only.Despatche wrote:That's more or less the direction I was going. Improved scores.
The other option doesn't even seem to work for me: when I start BWR+, a message pops up (not fully translated) which seems to indicate that it reverts to 'off'.
- BWR+ - Heaven - Wish
Krushal - 41,128,100 - ALL - On/On
BWR+ - Heaven - Peace
Krushal - 46,736,180 - ALL - Off/On: Finally got a 1LC with auto-guard OFF.
BWR+ - Heaven - Eden
Krushal - 41,008,720 - ALL - On/On
- - - - - - - - -
BWR+ - Original - Wish
Krushal - 30,096,350 - ALL - On/On
BWR+ - Original - Hope
Krushal - 30,063,190 - ALL - On/On
BWR+ - Original - Peace
Krushal - 43,046,500 - ALL - On/On: Original mode 1LC! Surprised myself.
BWR+ - Original - Eden
Krushal - 32,246,270 - ALL - On/On

Re: Blue Wish Resurrection/Plus
"Off" is vsync mode, "On" is timer mode. The message is just a confirmation that you're in timer mode.
Many people were using CRTs up until the 2010s, which didn't often have a 60Hz mode; typically the norm was 75Hz. Because of that, a timer/vsync toggle was necessary, and a lot of doujin games from this period have it. Like most games, turning vsync off causes tearing/stuttering but removes input lag. This developer's games behave differently on different computers... newer computers tend to cause a lot of stuttering in timer mode.

Thanks for the clarification.
EDIT:
Very sorry, I confused myself there . It was my Heaven Peace score (which I did note). Sorry sorry.

Re: Blue Wish Resurrection/Plus
Dear god I need to see that replay, but how come no video link? Did you need someone to record?
Re: Blue Wish Resurrection/Plus
I've enjoyed watching prales very casually spank BWR+ hell mode's ass today.

Updated. Don't feel bad about multiposting, it's fine for score threads.
