Was Space Invaders '95 ported?

Post by CIT »

I'm not aware this game was ever ported, but I might be wrong. Is it on any of the Taito Memories/Legends? Any other ports?

Taito Memories Gekan (2nd volume) has Akkanvader, the Japanese version of SI95. Taito Legends 2 will have SI95 as well.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

It's also on the PSP Space Invaders compilation.

The PSP version of SI95 has some faults in it. This version only allows one player, but you can still choose the 2P characters.

Players who use the dog/cat characters must have all projectiles in the charge shot attack hitting a target to avoid breaking a hit streak. The F3 version is more forgiving here- if at least one of these hit a target, you're OK.

Unlike the F3 version your score won't reset on a continue. In Stage 9, you don't get any points for blasting the Bigmouths.

I always wondered why the 16-bit systems got a lame Space Invaders remake instead of the arcade version. Anyone know the reason?

Great point, man.

SI X on PSX isn't half bad. I'll see about writing a review on it one of these days. Gotta love the CG intro :D

The SNES version is a faithful replica of the arcade, whereas the Genesis one is very different.

I thought the Super Nintendo Space Invaders game was the only home port of Space Invaders DX arcade until Taito Legends 2 came out.
It's pretty darn close and it's a damn new game, 1997 is when it was release.

Isn't the Saturn version pretty much a port of DX only without the parody mode?

Correction.

I never really saw much of Saturn SI, from what I heard it was just 'original' SI, and I went from that. In addition to seeing basically zero of that game anywhere I only knew otherwise of SNES version.

This site seemed to have valid recourse: http://grblitz.overclocked.org/spacein2.htm
