Why are stickers removed from ROMs?
Why would a sticker be removed from what looks like a stock ROM?

Can you give a little more context?
But in general, they sometimes fall off due to the glue getting old. The rom could've gotten corrupted somehow and needed to be reprogrammed. Or it could be a stock rom but not front that board...the original went bad and was replaced with a reprogrammed original from a parts board. Those are the 3 main reasons I can think of.

I've never reprogrammed a ROM but I imagine that could be done without removing the sticker? Glue failing and replacement of the ROM with the same part from elsewhere makes sense.

If it's an EPROM, and the sticker is over the window, you won't be able to UV erase it so you can then reprogram it.shmupsrocks wrote:I've never reprogrammed a ROM but I imagine that could be done without removing the sticker?
