Re: Switch shmup games list
US Thunder Cross has a more limited selection of weapons and doesn't play as well. US Nemesis has continues and power up enemies after death, but rank goes crazy with just a couple power ups. Haunted Castle is more unfair with difficulty compared to Akumajou Dracula.CRP wrote:Whats the difference ? Re: Switch shmup games list
Konami is infamous for implementing massive gameplay changes depending on the region of the game. Most often the JP version is the one most fairly balanced with the US being redesigned to be more credit feedy. There are only a few exceptions out there where the JP difficulty is not too different from the US version.
Re: Switch shmup games list
Wow didnt know it was such large difference. Thanks for the info. BareKnuckleRoo & BrianC

One of the biggest killers of the Thunder Cross US version is the sneaky orb enemy that spawns randomly. When shot, it shoots a spread plus one fast homing shot that requires quick narrow dodging without using the bomb. Many times, that enemy is the reason for very cheap hits. That enemy never appears in the original Japan version (set 1).

Oh I hate that orb. Btw. I get it every time in stage 1 after the first missile shooting ship comes from the rear.MrJBRPG wrote: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FFi6IvmDQw&t=292s

The tate option is only in handheld mode for the SNK collection (no tate in Konami collection). The option doesn't even appear when in docked mode.syveL wrote: they can't be tated

Re: Switch shmup games list
Has anyone actually played Konami Arcade Classics on the Switch? No horrendous input lag, terrible forced graphical filters etc?
Re: Switch shmup games list
I bought the JP version of the collection. I didn't notice any horrendous input lag. Screen options are more limited compared to the normal AA releases (vertical games can be stretched to a 4:3 or wide ratio and horizontal games can only be stretched to full screen), though the scanline filter is still there.
Re: Switch shmup games list
I saw your list entry regarding this game, and there's a ? in the TATE column. I can confirm that, at least in handheld mode, it has a TATE mode. I haven't played it docked yet to confirm whether it supports it in that context.FRO wrote:Switch 'N' Shoot - one-button retro arcadey shooter, currently digital only.

The Psikyo collections are going to be slightly different in Japan.
Same game selection across two packages, instead of three for the rest of Asia.

Re: Switch shmup games list
The Japanese Psikyo Shooting Library volumes also arrange the games in a more cohesive manner, if you prefer each full series together.
Library Vol. 1 contains all three Strikers games (I, II, III/1999), the natural pairing of the two fantasy shooters (Sol Divide and Dragon Blaze), and the odd man out title Zero Gunner 2 (which at least has some thematic consistency with Strikers as a more military-themed game).
Library Vol. 2has all three Sengoku games (Ace, Blade, Cannon), Gunbird 1&2, and Gunbarich (a Gunbird spinoff).
The 3 part Asian "Psikyo Collection" releases take the opposite approach, splitting each series up so you only get 1 game from a series on any single volume. There is a certain logic to it, with Vol. 1 basically containing the first game in each series, Vol. 2 containing the second game in each series, and Vol. 3 containing the 3rd games plus oddballs... but up to individual preference which approach people prefer.

updated
https://nintendoeverything.com/arcade-c ... ort-added/Konami states that Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection now supports vertical mode, otherwise known as tate mode.
Typhoon (A-Jax), Scramble, and TwinBee should all properly support the feature.
