TwinBee Yahhoo!: Fushigi no Kuni de Ooabare!!

Post by Despatche »

Previous thread: 1
----------
Arcade defaults are 3 lives, difficulty 4/Medium, no extends. However, the port has extends at 300k and 700k and you can't turn them off, so those scores are getting split. All current scores are assumed to have been made with these extends (they're from a tournament that asked arcade players to turn extends on); I think Dragoforce's score is the only one I'm unsure about.

Apparently Special mode is busted, though apparently it's also avoidable. Need more info.

Post scores in this format:

Code: Select all

MODE
NAME - SCORE - STAGE - CHARGE SHOT - PLAYER SIDE - AUTOFIRE - DETAILS
DETAILS is for what model of console and release of cart/disc, or what emulator and version. For CHARGE SHOT, use Shot, Punch, Bunshin (third), Bakudan (fourth); for PLAYER SIDE, use TwinBee (1P) or WinBee (2P). For Practice mode, note whether you ended the game at stage 3 or not with ALL- or ALL+.

Practice

KoopaTGR - 1,580,470 - 3 - Shot - TwinBee (1P) - No - MAME

EDIT: I just found out that if you finish Stage 3 in Practice Mode with a 50+ bell chain you can go to Stage 4 and beat the whole game.
So can my score be edited to reflect this.

Cool. I guess ALL-/ALL+ would be good to note that, then.

Thanks!

Also, when you get to Stage 4 you can also play Stage 5 and 6 if/when you reach them.
Just mentioning in case you were confused.

Totally forgot I made this thread.

I assume that Practice score was an ALL-? Let me know if otherwise.

Nope I game-overed in stage 3. I've cleared the stage before and even gotten to the fourth stage at least once, but not with as high a score.

Practice mode is fun but keeping the bell chain in the second stage is too hard.

Practice
Shepardus - 3,387,900 - 4 - Shot - 1P - Yes - MAME 0.190

Managed to finish stage 3 with over a 50 bell chain (I think it was 76 to be exact) but barely lasted into stage 4 since I had already lost two lives and am totally unfamiliar with anything beyond the "standard" practice mode.

Probably going to stop spamming this thread until I actually figure out how to survive.

Might as well throw this in:

Practice (no extends)
CSF - 3,035,350 - 4 - Bakudan - 1P - No - MAME

Why haven't I been using autofire? smh

I'm curious what the story is with Special. How's it busted, and did anyone ever determine how it's avoidable?

NTSC-J noted in the Hall of Records that Normal and Special have an infinite pattern, but I have no idea what it might be.

Here's a score because. Fuck 'no extends,' this game is bullshit enough.

EmperorIng - 1,511,610 - 4 - Bakudan - 1P - Yes - Sega Saturn

How the FUCK are you supposed to deal with these cats on stage 4. It's total bs.

EDIT: Made a little bit of progress (made it to st4 midboss, about the same as last time) thanks to Shep's advice.

The fourth charge shot is quite effective. Third might be as well.

Yeah, normal. Special I think is the equivalent of a second loop. I'm trying to make some progress to get past the st 4 chokepoint with midboss (and boss, following immediately afterward). Does anyone know how to survive Tweedle Dee and Dum?

This game is so fucking hard. It's like you have to follow some strict steps to make sure rank doesn't spiral out of control. I have a difficult time seeing how i can even defeat the stage 5 boss's second phase.
