diferencias

which is better?
both have:

-21" (19,8")
-2048x1536 resolution max
-chasis 21cr1

differences:
cdm g520 aperture grill 0.24
gdm f520 aperture grill 0.22

*which is better? What does this difference consist of?

* gdm f520 mounts a tube fw900, cdm g520 mounts the same or a different tube?

* In what year were they manufactured? Thank you

The same chassis does not mean those two implementations of it are identical, as in this case the tubes are different because they have different grille pitches. The chassis will still be very similar, of course. But the scanrate of the GDM-F520 is a little higher, which never hurts. I'm not sure if that's merely the way the chassis in the lower CPD model was implemented, or if it was deliberately written into the service manual that way and there's no real difference. I might be coming into a CPD-G520 a bit later in the year, and will look forward to testing it.

The difference in grille pitch is in how fine the details of an image can get on the screen. Obviously .22mm is finer. But it will normally result in a very slight loss of brightness, as more of the visible area is taken up by the grille. In this case the difference in brightness would be unimaginably small, everything else being equal. This general principle, and the need for tighter beam focus, is one reason PC CRT's don't go as bright as CRT TV's.

The tube in the GDM-F520 is not the widescreen one used in the FW900, and the chassis in the FW900 is the G1W model, presumably resembling the G1 chassis from a lot of Sony rebadges like the Sun GDM-5410, or IBM 6552-23S. The G1 chassis might be in some actual Sony monitors too, but IDK which ones exactly. The G1 chassis looks and mounts quiet differently to the 21CR1 chassis. Not sure about the G1W but i reckon most of the details would need to be checked before attempting tube swap.

These were all made in the early 2000's, i believe.

I'd get the GDM model if i had a choice of the two, but one might be in much better condition than the other, you just don't know till you see them.

I'm not sure i understand the question. If you're asking whether the tubes from the GDM-F520 and CPD-G520 can be swapped with one another, i don't know. They may be quite similar, but you'd need to check the pinouts and voltages, and if they aren't a perfect match maybe think about modifying whichever chassis.
