The gals, guys, and birds of Sega Ages on Switch

Post by cave hermit »

I was playing a bit of Outrun and Lightening Force on my switch recently, and I noticed that during the intro with Alex Kidd and the girls holding up signs, sometimes the people (and animals) holding the sign vary. So far I've noticed:

-The standard anime girls wearing leotards and thigh high boots (Phantasy Star? I wouldn't know)
-Anime girl wearing JRPG style robes (Probably Phantasy Star?)
-Smaller anime girl (again don't know, Monster World maybe?)
-A fat Karnov-esque fellow... Wearing the same leotard as the anime girls (the Outrun flagman???)
-Some Flickies and a Tiger

Any other signholders that people here have noticed? Does there seem to be any pattern to how characters are selected on bootup? This is a very important topic that must be thoroughly explored.

I noticed Nei (cat girl from phantasy star 2), Rika (cat girl from phantasy star 4), the Ninja Princess, and Flicky and the cat from that game in the intro. I'm not completely sure, but I think one of the girls is Ramaya from Arabian Fight. The girl with the jet pack is Mary from Quartet. The fat Karnov looking guys are those big guys with the hammer in Golden Axe (these guys weren't wearing leotards, though). I think that younger girl may be the 2p character in Alex Kidd and The Lost Stars AC, but I'm not completely sure.

edit: The young girl in the blue jumpsuit with the yellow bow is Stella from Alex Kidd and the Lost Stars AC.

This video has the intro at the beginning.

The girl in red and white at the beginning of the video is Mieu from Phantasy Star III.

I wonder if these are meant to be hints at things to come or just a subtle nod. I wouldn't mind seeing Flicky, Alex Kidd and the Lost Stars AC, Ninja Princess, and Quartet make the switch series. I'm not so sure about Arabian Fight. Part of me wants to play it, but mainly because I like Ramaya's design.
