An unnecessary sequel to an unnecessary film. Basically this film (and the first Wayne's World film before it) take something that might have been funny in a five-minute sketch on Saturday Night Live and drag it out for 90 minutes (the same could be said for basically every SNL movie.) There's a few funny bits, but you could find those on YouTube and save yourself 85 minutes of filler in between.

Silent Movie (1976)
Never saw this one before, pretty great and funny. Mel Brook's tribute to the slapstick comedies of the silent era. Heavily recommended.

Buying cheap DVDs works for me against that, somehow. Speaking of which...dan76 wrote:Jesus. I think I hate films.
Super (2010, US) - I don't think it's a comedy at all, nor intends to be one. It is not farce, either. More like the kind of blasphemy USA seem unsure what to make of when it occurs (Little Miss Sunshine, and reading about its reception, gave me a similar impression before). Fucking angry film in a way. Its movie brethren would be: the 2008, South-Korean Breathless (똥파리), as well as Bernie (1996, France). Also, there is more than a hint of Frantic to it.
For what it's worth, I have not watched Kick-Ass, my reason being that I had tried reading the original comics before, found the drawings in it most off-putting and as such - ill-boding for the franchise.

First Knight (1995) - Jerry Zucker
Well, it only took me two decades to finally sit through the whole thing.
What an abomination!
Richard Gere, obviously, should have been drowned as an infant, upon him first exhibiting that "blink hard and repeatedly, for intensity" tick.
Lancelot's Betrayal of Arthur, with the adulterous Guinevere, is the focus of this Camelot.
In this "version" everything works out peachy.
Still, the Ladies seem to love it, degenerates that they are!
As can be imagined, the film is stuffed full of schmaltz, cringe and worse.
Jerry Goldsmith's score, is a waste of everyone's time.
The entire farce, gives the impression that the director had no idea what he was doing.
If you have an interest in the subject matter and you have yet to see either, I would strongly suggest watching Excalibur (1981) - John Boorman The Mad,
than being suckered by this turkey.

Kinda curious what possessed you to watch it. Looking on IMDB, absolutely nothing says that it would be any better than what you described. The cover art and stills even look bad.

Sometimes you just want to watch the worst piece of Arthurian content. Inb4 someone digs up some more obscure trash.

Was not able to finish this one back in the day, so for the sake of completion, I suffer.
On the plus side of the marathon, Wrong Is Right (1982) - Richard Brooks and The Anderson Tapes (1971) - Sidney Lumet, were both enjoyable.
Even Family Business (1989) - Sidney Lumet, has its's moments.

The Kid (1921)
The scene where the kid is crying in the orphanage truck with arms extended forward, and Chaplin's pained expression while struggling with the cop and the orphanage guy, that was something.

The kid in that movie, Jackie Coogan, later played Uncle Fester on The Addams Family (no joke). I enjoyed The Kid movie quite a bit.
Re: Movies you've just watched
I just saw Cold Pursuit. I did enjoy the movie, but I found it way too similar to its 2014 counterpart, "In Order of Disappearance". It's even by the same director!

Tetsuo: The Iron Man is a killer movie, even though I'm not really into body horror movies. It kind of felt like a joint directorial combination of David Lynch and David Cronenberg. When I watched it, I couldn't really tell what to make of it, though it was definitely very weird and surreal. After having thought about it a little bit each day for a week, I've come to the conclusion that it's a very good movie that is deserving of its cult status.
There was a time, in the era of great chaos, when the Earth and the moon were at war with each other. A daredevil from the moon piloted a bizarre aircraft. It was feared, and because of its shape, called... Einhander.

Finally got around to doing something I always attempt but never succeed at: watching something gracing this thread soon after reading about it. If one assumes this is a lottery, I hit the jack pot:
Harakiri
Holy shit this was awesome. It's no secret I finger myself to a well composed shot... black and white film usually helps that. Too many amazing scenes to list, but as Zen stated, the march through the graveyard... oh man. Looking forward to some of his other works. Most seem to be rated quite high.
Bonus Edit:
This geezer from the original run of Ultraman is in the cast list. I didn't spot him -- most likely a nameless retainer.

The scenes of him running at super speed are a very unusual use of stop motion, that works pretty well.

Yeah, I believe I heard that on Gilbert Gottfried's podcast.BrianC wrote:The kid in that movie, Jackie Coogan, later played Uncle Fester on The Addams Family (no joke). I enjoyed The Kid movie quite a bit.
The Bank Dick (1940)
Wonderful comedy. Seems like all the accolades weren't just for show.
Inherit The Wind (1960)
Interesting court drama with amazing dialogue. Seems things haven't changed much in those parts, though.

Speaking of which, I just watched The Prestige on the recommendation of a friend. Good lord, they really wasted Nolan on Batman schlock. Memento was really damn good too and Insomnia was solid. Such a good director. Also another reminder that Metacritic is trash as Batman Begins has a higher score than The Prestige.

The Incredibles 2
Didn't resolve The Underminer, and everyone in the family totally forgot that the baby has powers. They saw him take out the villain of the first movie! Still, I enjoyed this despite the flaws.

Sunna no Onna / Woman in the Dunes
Didn't enjoy this as much as the aforementioned Harakiri, which I watched on the departure flight of the same trip, but nonetheless a pretty impressive feat. I'm not sure I would rate it as high as most. In terms of subject matter and themes, it's got plenty to sift through while not being super pretentious. I had a couple of problems with it but whatever. It's definitely creepier than most modern day anything. A bit long. Fantastic soundtrack. Cinematically average.
The BlacKkKlansman
I'm sure a lot of people saw this for the same reason a lot of people didn't. Honestly, I found it to be pretty in the middle in terms of political statement. The KKK and David Duke are, and have always been, easy targets. Nothing revolutionary there. But I guess even Spike Lee joints are for entertainment, not documentary purposes. I assume quite a few liberties were taken w/ events (as always), but all in all an okay story for a movie where you don't want to think too much. Having said that, unless you dig big afros and 70's culture & fashion (which I happen to), it's not really a must see. I went in somewhat blind, and had no idea who the lead actor was. Halfway through I thought, "his voice sounds like a young Denzel Washington". Low and behold...

Ralph Breaks The Internet (2018)
A nice, interesting sequel. I grinned like a bloody idiot during the whole Disney part. Now I need to watch Brave.
Brave (2012)
Loved the Scottish settings and music. Merida's hair was pretty cool, too. Story was typical Disney, a bit weak. Still worth watching.

Alita: Battle Angel
Big fan of the manga and as such I was very skeptical, but since it became clear from the trailer that the film sticks tightly to its source material, my interest was piqued. The fact that Yukito Kishiro strongly endorsed it also helped. Indeed I was not disappointed!
Almost everything important from the manga can be found here (although some aspects were combined differently), and the film takes its time to establish the setting credibly, create a living breathing world, and to chart Alita's development. The creators understood what the major charm of the manga — one of the best cyberpunk stories ever written — is and did a good job of translating it onto screen.
However, the movie basically only contains volumes 1-4 of the manga and thus ends on a cliffhanger. Deserves the sequel it sets up.
I give it 9 out of 10 cyborg hearts!

Ghost In The Shell via Japanese CAV LD BEAL 921
For the first 20 minutes or so I was watching side by side with the dvd for comparison. The LD is a bit brighter so I would think the DVD would look better on a newer display w/o tweaking settings. I was watching on an HD CRT. The biggest surprise to me is that the dvd loses a little bit of picture at the top. It's not something you'd think about if you were just watching the dvd but side by side it's super noticeable.
Great movie of course, one of the best ever made. I think my brain would melt trying to rank Oshii movies but this, Angel's Egg, Patlabor 2 and UY Beautiful Dreamer are all magnificent.
@FinalBaton: So yeah my player does not support LD+G. Most subbed LDs are hardsubbed but this is a Japanese LD with two sub tracks, I just couldn't access them. Interestingly enough it also had English CC, which I promptly turned off.

I watched Incredibles II. I liked it, but some of the continuity seemed a bit questionable.
I also saw the Hustler. Gritty movie about a nieve pool hustler named fast eddie and his struggles with dark side of pool hustling. Excellent cast with Paul Newman, Piper Laurie, Myron McCormick (the sergeant in no time for sergeants), George C. Scott, and Jackie Gleason. I enjoyed it quite and bit and especially liked the ending.
