This looks pretty terrible. It's like Sine Mora mixed with a super generic and amateur indie shmups. Blah

I fear the list is starting to be out of date a bit now. I'm listing few I can think of now (probably repeating a stuff which have been mentioned already ,but are not in the table, but to summarize):

Neko Navy - Daydream edition came out last week. It's a lot of fun, highly recommended indie shmup and easily in my top-10 list of shmups on Switch (and I have at least 80% of what are currently available).

Rolling Gunner was announced yesterday to have winter 2019 release

Pawarumi should be coming at some point 2019 the last time I heard (really hoping this one comes, looks nice)

AngerForce: Reloaded was announced a while ago

Squadron 51 was announced a while ago

Mars: Chaos Menace came out a while ago (doesn't look very good)

Horizon Shift '81 released in December (retro fun)

Twinkle Star Sprites came out in December

Arcade Archives: Omega Fighter came out long time ago

Stardust Galaxy Warriors came out in December or so (shmup more suitable for those who are new to the genre)

Sky Force: Anniversary came out in December (worse version of Sky Force Reloaded, I don't recommend even to those who enjoyed Reloaded)

In NES Online we have both Gradius NES version and TwinBee NES version

Azure Reflections (touhou) came out a while ago

In SNK Collection there is at least Prehistoric Isle, Alpha Mission/A.S.O (so it's separate as arcade archive release and in this collection) + some others I have heard (I don't own this one yet)

Blue rider came out some weeks ago (I guess it's average, shmup like game?)

Overdrive Reloaded came out couple of weeks ago (doesn't look good)

M.A.C.E (doesn't look good)

these were some of the earliest, which are not in the list (avarage at best):
Xenoraid
Earth Atlantis

From the existing list, these have been released by now:

Aca Neo Geo: Strikers 1945 Plus
Arcade Archives: A.S.O ("Alpha Mission 1")
Astebreed
Blackbird
R-Type Dimensions
Rival Megagun
Sega Ages: Thunder Force IV
Sengoku Cannon (japan only I think)
SuperHydorah

Now I really hope the original poster keeps updating the list, but if not, maybe somebody else can start and new thread with a new, updated table for Switch (I wouldn't mind one for PS4 and XBone, shouldn't be too hard)

Thanks so much for putting this together, @jandrogo. Maybe we could crowdsource a column showing which Switch shmups have physical releases. What do you think? I'll start...

SOL Divide via Psikyo Collection Vol. 1
Samurai Aces via Psikyo Collection Vol. 1
Gunbird via Psikyo Collection Vol. 1

Strikers 1945 II via Psikyo Collection Vol. 2

List updated, thanks for the help @Gfoyle
@durias, info added. Danmaku Unlimited 3 is also getting a physical release by Limited Run Games, tomorrow is the last day to reserve it.

I also would like to add metacritic review score dynamically to every game but I don't know how, and to be able to sort games by price, orientation, etc... but it seems forum doesn't have the function?

Also, it would be awesome to have a list for the 3 current consoles together (PS4/Xone/Switch)

Cool!

I see you left out the SNK Collection. Here are shooters from that (based on official web page):
Prehistoric Isle
Vanguard
Alpha Mission
Chopper 1
Bermuda Triangle
World Wars
Ozma Wars

ps. metacritic and the like are usually very bad for shmups, most common reviewers doesn't seem able to get the whole "arcade game concept" so those scores do not really have value. I would think there is good enough knowledge in this forum to highlight the quality shmups from the list though.

JFYI, Steredenn was available physically through Super Rare Games - https://superraregames.com/products/srg ... nary-stars - it's sold out now, but you might be able to find it in the usual places second hand now.

Not sure if you want to add multi-directional shmups, but if so, there's Cycle 28 by Pillbug - https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/cycle-28-switch

Not sure about Cycle 28, if people consider should be added I'll do. By the way, looks like "Luftrausers went to space"...

I have colored in yellow games that have physical edition available.

I think it may be worth noting that the Psikyo games have significant input lag, alot more than the ACA archives.

Glad you brought this up @Ex_Mosquito. Is it common for physical copies to have significant input lag? I wouldn't want to buy any physical copy (e.g. Steredenn) only to find out about the input lag afterward.

I have played those Switch ports quite a lot and some ACA stuff as well. I haven't experience any such significant input lag going on (I have those games digital). There was input lag I guess on the Strikers when it came out (first one on Switch), but it was fixed ages ago.

I have also PS4, XBox one with most of the shmups available for those, playing on same screen and I haven't found any SIGNIFICANT input lag in Psikyo stuff compared to those either.

But I'm not saying there isn't any, because I'm not sure about that and I have suspected that there is some (it would be a good excuse for my bad playing!). I haven't played any other versio of those games myself so I don't have direct comparison so I'm really interested to hear if somebody has and can really confirm that there is noticeable input lag and maybe even measure it somehow? (actually one person did this, compared the Switch to Saturn port using CRT and he didn't think there was a huge difference there)

Not sure why a physical version would have extra input lag, unless it didn't have the updates of the digital version. I heard of input lag in the digital versions of the Psyiko switch games, but I haven't compared to my Saturn Strikers 1945 and heard mixed things on whether or not it was fixed in an update. I also noticed less input lag in general after an update to the Switch pro controller.

It would be really strange for physical edition to have input lag (assuming all the updates have been done for the game as well) compared to digital version as I really doubt any of these kind of games load something from the memory card during actually gameplay.

As for input lag in general in these ports, I hope people have some concrete experiences, measurements etc. before spreading such info to others. Like I wrote earlier, I don't see such significant input lag at all and if there is (and probably there is always some), it would really interesting to see some actual measurements, comparison results for other Switch shmups too.

M2 has said that they have been trying to minimise the input lag on Switch ports, but they clearly made it work at least in the Sega Ages ports. That Thunder Force IV port feels a bit more fluid to me than Psikyo ports, so there might be a bit less input lag on that one (but the ship also moves a bit faster so it could be part that too why it feels more fluid).

I read also from some Smash bro's discussion that there was some input lag testing been done and wireless pro controller actually had a tiny bit less input lag than using it as USB connected.

Regarding the input lag in the Psykyo ports: I have volumes 1 and 2, and though I can't empirically test the delay, I can certainly say for me the lag is real. None of the other shmups I have for modern systems (that includes the 360) have ever registered as problematic in that department, but these ZeroDiv releases to me were immediately noticeable.

Probably compounded by the fact these are Psykyo shooters where dodging on reaction is less likely, and after a few weeks I've adapted a bit by memorizing. Still, was not expecting them to be as laggy as they are.

Out of curiosity, what are the version numbers in the games, have you had to update them from the one which came in the physical release?

I'm really interested of this subject, because like I said, I don't find that kind of noticeable lag and I switch between those games, Hamster releases, Ps2 M2 stuff often, even during the same session. Psikyo games feel slightly more sluggish, so maybe that's the thing what you are talking about. The ships on Psikyo games do not move that fast though, so I have mostly been thinking it's that just creating a perception of input lag. Just yesterday I was playing Gunbird and trying to see if I notice clear delay in my controls and what I see and I really couldn't tell. Then I went to play Hamster port of Aero Fighters 2 and it felt slightly smoother, but again I couldn't tell whether it was clearly having less delay or was it my mind / perception doing tricks on me.

I know a few people who have been playing these games on Switch and none of those have complained about input lag problems ever. I even asked one who had that Saturn version to check whether he feels clear difference between the versions (he has both) and he agreed to test the side by side and didn't notice anything that noticeable, which wouldn't be already explained by CRT vs LCD screen. Based on his test and word on it, it's kinda hard to believe that there is such significant input lag.

But if some veteran of some of these games come and tells me that there is and it's affecting, then I guess I would have to believe it even without actual measurements (which would be even better).

For casual players, I would advice not to worry about this input lag thing at all. Bigger issue I have with these is the lack of any kind of training mode, stage selection, save point support etc.

Now I need to go play some of those games on my Switch...
