Matter of fact, a 24 Hour Party People DVD (one of my bargain bin finds, like Straight Outta Compton) is lying before me as I type, yet to be unwrapped. Almost guaranteed to be the first movie I'll watch after a month or so of barely touching this kind of media at all.
The thread surely deserves a more on-topic post to open its new page, but I find the coincidence amusing.

That movie is an absolute must watch.
The first time I saw it I didn't really consider it particularly good, but it's just one of those that stay with you forever, and is infinitely rewatchable and quotable.

More X. Made it to the Clock Tower - god damn that's an ugly level. Picked up the key before the ST3 boss and rescued the first girl in ST4, but lost it before I could find any more. ST5 boss is odd - I presume the reason I can sometimes walk right through it is the attempt at a pseudo-3D effect? Really enjoying this, far more than my playthough of IV.

Depends what side of the bridge its segments are on. So yes, vaguely.

That's actually Rondo's stage 1/alternate boss, haha. Much trickier on SFC, since you don't get as much reaction time while hopping his charges. There's two variants, requiring slightly differing techniques.

But then they went and added (or just didn't notice) a safespot from said charges on the far left. Which is for weenies, obviously!

Here's the raw clip of

Lord Shankington Grant 5th Earl of Castle Stabula with only 1 credit of peasant's taxes to fritter away.
https://youtu.be/aXQaSKO4w6A

raw footage unlisted for the boys.

Early stupid death in the clock tower!
I guess I practiced this section the least..

28:45- Underwater Ruins stage is the beginning of my nightmares..
I start to fall apart after I missed Air Wall Meat.

36:45 - Caught in 1-up loop.
Why are we here, just to suffer?

44:15 - Tetris master meets unfortunate end. The waiting sucks about this section..
Holding your nerve through such a long stage is the challenge here I feel. Oddly more so on continue runs, because you know the consequences are graver, in a way?
Can't believe I made it through the ungodly climb without taking damage!

49:20 - Fuck these mummies as the Stab Dynasty. It's an awful fight!

57:25 - Spaghetti Stairs went surprisingly well. Usually it takes most of my health or a couple of lives.

1:00:15 - Best death in Castlevania history. I felt so good before then.

1:01:07 - You cannot comprehend the skill it takes to pull off this strat.
Precision strikes: Knees, Shins, Achillies tendon.

The rest of the game is an absolute tiltfest to the very end culminating in a shaky yet safe no damage final boss.
Using the Axe, I wanted to use dagger but after an hour and that final stage, I'd had enough!

I'm looking forward to that bundle, if only to have Rondo on a more modern platform.

I will say, it would have been nice if they went the extra mile and included Dracula X from the SNES on top of those two. Seems like the only way to play that one on a modern system is via the Wii U Virtual Console release, and who knows how long that will remain available.

I've really been enjoying XX on SNES so stoked to finally play Rondo. And SotN is always welcome on whatever my current main platform is. Not played it through for a few years.

I've been working at a whip-only run of the original Castlevania this past week. Interestingly, I found a hidden wall meat in Stage 2 I wasn't aware of. It's definitely inaccessible during the first loop.

Are there any other hidden items not included in the first loop? There's also a wall on Death's stage with a sub weapon multiplier in it, I can't remember if that's normal or not.

There's a 1UP on the first stage that's only on a the second loop. And I think another on later on, but I can't remember where.

CV1 secrets never cease to surprise me. :o Had no idea about either of those. Wallmeat would be handy insurance, I always stopwatch the Medusas in that bit. Although it's a bit early in the room. I suppose if you got whacked towards the end, you'd be better off forging ahead until the usual one a floor up.

Actually the only loop-exclusive secrets I knew of were the Moais. I tried to collect all of 'em in my no-miss but now I'm sure I missed a few.

Any idea where the 2nd loop moais are? I'd be interested to try to find them.

On Stage 2, going up to that second screen from the beginning like in the screenshot, a medusa head pummels you from the right side almost immediately. Tough to deal with on a whip-only run, so that meat is somewhat handy. I just wish there were more instances of this throughout the rest of the loop. I bashed nearly every block I could but failed to find anything else.

Holy shit, yeah, I'd forgotten how promptly the onslaught begins there.

Here's the two Moais I know of, in stages 2-2 and 2-3 respectively.

2-2 Moai (rescued under heavy fire! No Moai left behind!)
2-3 Moai, much easier. Deliberately timestamped early because Boney-kun #1 really earned his keep.

Top secret Berumondo no Ougi to force the next Medusa to spawn from the right before I haul ass. Works great on bats too! See also Dracula XX / Fledermäuse Handler '95: Moonwalking Prevents Rabies

Were autospawning sinewave pests more honest back then, or was it all a cruel ploy to whack edge-bound players square in the chops? :o

I never used that tactic (more so not realizing it could be done). I recently figured it out in an *attempted* no sub-weapon Loop 2 run on the original Castlevania. Forcing the medusas and bats to spawn from a specific side of the screen is pretty much mandatory.

I always loved the Maria boss fight theme from Saturn SoTN. It's a cool fight on the saturn, too. Not sure why they'd have changed it for the
Most western players of the game have probably never heard it! https://youtu.be/aceWIRyTcW8

Also guys help me settle an argument.
Which is better, the final stage theme from Rondo of Blood ?
or its counterpart in Dracula XX
