Sharp x68000 and MSX repair help please

Post by Hoagtech »

My sharp x68000 shocks me when I touch any of the interfaces on the back.

The picture is blurry on the directory and the unit loses its allocated memory which isn’t too bad but the blurry image is getting old.

My MSX2+ hit bit f1xDj was shipped to me with major issues that cause me to let it rest for 30 minutes in order to load 1 game once.

I am in desperate need of someone who is skilled in replacing capacitors on these units.

Can anyone help me repair these 2 units?

Has your X68000 had a PC power supply modded in? I got bitten by this years ago where I bought one like that. They had the power supply screwed to the metal casing in the X68000. Problem is, on PC power supplies the heatsinks have live voltage. I didn't know all that when I hooked it up, then once I powered it on attached to a monitor it fried the board in the monitor, then the X68000 never worked right after that once the power issue was fixed.

As far as the MSX, you're going to have to be more specific about the issue.

No it is a recapped OG psu according to the seller. I am more worried about the fuzzy video output than the voltage leak.

As far as the MSX2+ goes:

When I play metal gear off the floppy without SSC music. The game exhibits artifacts after a couple minutes of gameplay until it is completely unplayable.

When mounting different games from the rom flash cart the mounting won’t complete after the system has been turned on for a few minutes.

It is not j til I rest the console for about 20 minutes until I can successfully mount another game?

When I reached out to the owner of the flash cart he had told me it was due to bad voltage from leaky capacitors.
