Good XBOX Platformers?...

Post by dave4shmups »

I've heard good things about Rayman 3, Toe Jam & Earl III, and Pac Man World 2, but those are the only one's I know of. Any other good platformers for the XBOX?

i didn't think too highly of Rayman 3, but is probably worth a shot. also (this more forward looking), but there is the excellent game Psychonauts to look forward to (Double Fine is currently my dream job, so some bias is present, but still check it out). It is looking to kick some major ass, and only a month longer to wait (knock on wood).

otherwise
-Dr. Muto was relatively enjoyable
-Blinx was cool if you are into HARDCORE memorization
-Voodoo Vince was interesting (mostly the boss battles) and also a bit of fun
-Tak 2 was alright from what I played (rented it and didn't put in too much time)
I have no sig whatsoever.

Cool, thanks guys!

Out of all of those, Tork looks like the most fun, at least from the movies I've watched.

How are Crash: Twinsanity, and the XBOX port of Wrath of Cortex?

If panzer dragoon orta counts, it's fucking great. Gets shmup-like intense at times. Definitely worth the $15 I spent, and I didn't like the saturn games that much.

I've heard positive things about ninja gaiden.

Personally, I wouldn't even bother with any non-Naughty Dog-developed Crash game.

Yeah, but Twinsanity looks like it has a great sense of humor.

How's I-Ninja? Looks like a combination of Shinobi and Sonic.

How about Blowout? Pretty fun game that similar in style to Metroid and it's cheap as I got my copy "new" at gamestop for only $5.

I found BlowOut to be really, really boring. When that thing got released, tey compared it to Contra and there was nothing to really do. A lot of the game seemed to be walking around listening to directions. Granted, I did not play it much as it was boring me, maybe it picks up.

I love Blowout, and the Metal Slug series, but I'm asking about platformers, and those are both borderliners.

Oh yeah, Metal Arms: Glitch in the System is a pretty fun 'blow the crap out of everything' game. Really cheap now too; Best Buy here still has a few copies for 10 bucks (at least, last time I checked).

as an alternative to Blowout, track down a copy of Abuse (Win/DOS). that game is absolutely amazing. you'll thank me later.

the Crash games really aren't worth it. there may be some humor there (i didn't find them funny) but playing a really poor game for a small amount of humor hardly seems worth it to me.

Voodoo Vince is dirt cheap and it's a solid 3d platformer. Beyond, Good and Evil isn't a straight platformer but it's worth checking out if you haven't played it.

Thanks!

Anymore comments on Tork? That one looks like an excellent platformer, although it didn't get good ratings on IGN, Gamfaqs, etc.
