This game is the real successor to Radiant Silvergun. (even has an annoying R-Type boss) Spoiler
Green Orange - P2
Zaarock - 154,441 - 2-1 - 2/1/2
Garbage play but cagar demanded posting.
Autofire used. in the current version you can exploit having autofire with the player 2 ships wide attack, for some reason having autofire on it active makes the main shot only fire its stronger spread phase. There's a lot of fun stuff you can do with autofire in general but this is pretty broken since it powers up the main shot.
P2 charge shot is super good, yeah. Lock-on is a necessity for scoring in the loop though.
BTW for some reason the game runs better on integrated graphics on my laptop. Seem to be some weird performance problems with the game (probably just gamemaker related)
Doest lock on slow your chain from dropping? I seem to notice it seems to stop dropping for a moment (as if you were shooting something) when you lock on.
What I really love about this game is the sense of progression. When I first looked at it, I figured scoring would be an afterthought and this was just throwing a bunch of wacky weapons together. But this game is almost the shmup equivalent of a metroidvania or adventure game where you gradually build up more powers and the game expands and becomes more complex rather then unbalanced. It's not even a super amazing design/balancing job since the weapons all fill different rolls, it's just a really fresh concept that feels like a completely new style for the genre.
My only issue is that, as far as early games go in shmups, the first two stages on loop 1 aren't bad but could be better. They have decent scoring but I think they could use a bit more intensity or focus. Otherwise things really pick up after stage 3.
And yeah, I tried the game on 3 computers. First one (the most powerful, ironically) it ran at like halfspeed the whole time. Second one it ran fast on stage 1 but consistently became progressively slower on each stage. Third try was the charm though, runs consistently at full speed.

Instead I am stuck in the America's where women rule with an iron crotch, and a man could get arrested for sitting behind a computer too long.

Yeah, I thought so too, and started playing it sort of 'jokingly', thinking that I'd maximize the scoring potential within a day or two
Remember that the demo is ~1 year old. How about join the forces and start pressuring the devs to release the update?
EDIT: Btw, the lock-on replenishes your chain timer completely
'Raw Label' -version is a complete & polished game and will continue to be available for free. Might be worth keeping the Green Orange board on that (Black Onion was unfinished, Vanilla doesnt really have scoring)

By the way, there should be an indication in the thread's first post as to what weapons those roman numerals are for if they are needed in the score submission because I have no idea what they refer to exactly and I don't even think the game tracks the weapons this way. Or maybe it does with the sanskrit stuff but I can't read that stuff.

The game does track weapons as numbers (in sanskrit at least). backshot is 1, side is 2 and so on. so your weapons were 1-4-6 for example. It's a short notation that the game uses. You can see them in the results screen behind each score.
Green Orange - Type-B (II-IV-VI)
I think that's what Sideshot, Charge Shot, and Drill mean.

Just a post to mark my finishing the loop on a credit for the first time. Going into stage 2-2 with 3 health turned into an incredible catastrophe. I've been having a lot of fun with this one, though the penalty for not killing TLB is total bullshit, since the game doesn't given an indication of when it's vulnerable to attack.
Nice Emo. My progress is quite a bit slower, but I'm getting there.
Zaarock continues to set the bar- very high. *handclap*. Rue too.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

Well, still stuck in stage 4.

It turned out I have actually been using the Type B the whole time lmao. Why naming the ship on the cover and the title screen C and the other one B is beyond me. I get why there is no A for story reasons but the order of these two confuses me. Oh well.
