Bumping this with a new high score after 3 years since I first got a 1cc, to let anyone know that a new table and submission format will be used.

Star Soldier (PSP) - Normal Game - Normal
tinotormed & 45,775,780 & ALL & YES & Rijindael

Image

It seems milking most of the bosses are very easy with Rijindael, especially on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th (destroy all the parts), 8th, 9th and final bosses because the ship's laser can absorb the bullets for score.

The crab's legs (3rd boss) can be destroyed to make it's missiles appear on it's 2nd phase, letting you pick up the crystals for additional points, aside from the destroyable balls.

The missiles of the 4th boss can be destroyed for additional end-of-stage bonus points.

Stage 6 has a hidden black cat by shooting down the spot on where it hides, and hover-shooting on it. The main problem is the 2nd mid-boss, which can distract you from getting this scoring opportunity, so I took a bit longer on the 1st mid-boss. Stage 4 also has this one, but I've forgotten how to trigger it.

Stage 8 scorpion boss 1st form spawns out more destroyable balls and yellow mini-crabs to add to your additional bonus points.

Stage 9 boss Lazarus spawns mini-tanks for bonus points.

Final boss Star Brain has destroyable purple smogs, which spawns out crystals for bonus points. It's 2nd form also has colored destroyable balls, which spawns out all of these as well.

The end credits are shootable, which can spawn crystals for bonus points.

Let me know if there's something I missed, because if it does, I may probably create a Strategy thread for this.

Super Star Soldier – Normal – PCE

Image

Perikles & 4,758,100 & ALL & Yes

This was a 1LC.

Final Soldier – Normal – PCE

Image

Perikles & 3,436,000 & ALL & Yes

Got this on my very first credit. Never played the game afterwards.

Soldier Blade – Normal – PCE

Image

Perikles & 2,345,700 & ALL & Yes

Could've "beaten" CIT's score but got bored just by looking at the painfully slow milking process. I didn't do any such milking in the other games, though.

Star Parodier – Normal – PCE

Image

Perikles & 2,777,500 & ALL & Yes & PC Engine ship

This was also achieved on my first try.

Being unable of triple reversals. Funky flow, it does not require memorization to that point. I manage up to double reversals.
Complete info please. Format shown on first page.

Could someone enlighten me on what's this NEW mode in Star Soldier on the NES?

edit: nevermind, I just read it's unlocked after you complete the game

:?
good go, Hudson, why not tell the player about this so we don't immediately turn off the console?

So what's special in this NEW mode anyway? :P

Difficult, just like Soldier Force's Nightmare Mode. Bullets home in at you, enemy mooks move in quite faster.

The NES stuff: about 1,200,000 at stage 8.
Very best title to the console. And back in the days, 1994.

Got a couple of improvements and a new entry:

Final Soldier - Normal

Image

Perikles & 4,350,700 & ALL & YES & Short, Wiper, Flare, Back

Soldier Blade - Hard

Image

Perikles & 1,816,100 & ALL & YES

Star Parodier - Normal

Image

Perikles & 13,226,695 & ALL & YES & Paro Caesar

ooze9's Final Soldier score should be a place higher and SFKhoa's Soldier Blade Hard score is in the formatting row, by the way. :)

Had good fun with Soldier Blade's Hard difficulty, you can cheese a lot of the harder spots by using the generous invincibility windows when consuming the weapon icons in stock for the special attack, there's still quite a bit of tension. I really like that you can't use the most significant milking spot anymore on account of those projectiles being indestructible. You could still milk other minor projectiles, that would take a lot longer whilst being much more dangerous, fortunately. A bit miffed that I died a single time, could've been a neat 1LC. Oh well, I did manage to achieve my first Final Soldier 1LC.

Oh yeah, forgot to fix those so it's updated now.

And yeah, the only ones that can be possibly milked for score are the destructible projectiles of the stage 1 and 2 boss though. :P And nice one beating my score on final score on Final Soldier. Might try coming back to this game sometime. :D

Well, you could also destroy the missiles from the tank in stage 3 if I'm not mistaken, I don't think this guy times out, either. It's rather dangerous on Hard, though.
tinotormed wrote:And nice one beating my score on final score on Final Soldier. Might try coming back to this game sometime. :D
There's a very simple solution for milking in that one: if you arrive on the first boss fight with a Flare, immediately take out the first mecha and damage the second one to a point that he throws out considerably more mines. Now position your options (if you have them) all the way to the left or the right so that they aren't able to hurt the remaining boss anymore. If you sit on the bottom of the screen, the mines will never be able to touch you since the Flare takes them all out beforehand, you are also unable to hurt the boss like this due to the lacking reach of the Flare. You can milk forever like this, just like in Soldier Blade.

Could you also add my new Star Parodier score? :)

Yeah. Already tried those from my previous runs, and I figured I could do more. And yeah, forgot about the Star Parodier score. Should now be updated.

Played through Sugeeze since a few people suggested it before, didn't like it very much, frankly. The only one of those PCE "soldier" games with an interesting higher difficulty setting is Soldier Blade as far as I'm concerned.

Star Parodier has a secret difficulty beyond "hard". Put the sound test on 0A, and the difficulty will magically appear whenever you press right again past the hard difficulty. Just call it "Expert" I guess? I don't have Fantasy Star Soldier so I have no idea what that version calls it.
