Likewise.

In preparation I have been watching the new cut of season four. I liked season four in spite of the different format, but I was never super keen on sitting through it again. The re edited version changes all of that.

Writing is as on point as it ever was. Because the character centric episodes are essentially gone the whole thing just feels like a season of AD should. It's also funnier as a result.

I think this was a good move on Hurwitz's part.

I finally got Netflix myself, so I have been debating whether or not to watch the original Season 4 of Arrested Development for first-viewing, or watch the remix. I'm leaning towards "this was how it was originally meant to be viewed", but Season 4 has a lot of mixed opinions floating around.

Anyone want to chime in?

Marathonned Fargo with my dad over the last month or so. I'd put off trying the series for years, meanwhile he doesn't know WTF a Coen Bro is, but swore by s1 and s2 and wanted to rewatch. We needed something for nights while working our asses off to get his house ready for sale, so eh why not.

Holy fuck, it was wonderful. :o Nailed the movie's careful balance of darkness, compassion and amoral chaos, then sustained it for thirty episodes. S3's finale wasn't as resoundingly satisfying as the more conventional s1+s2's, but I thought it fit the slightly more experimental style perfectly. I really want that fourth season Hawley has mooted for 2020.

Only complaint, I was constantly noticing all the Coen Bros easter eggs and wishing my dad knew what he was missing.

"Is this what you want, Lester?" Ho ho hoooly fuck!

"We call it our burden, but it's really our privilege..."

"Son of the Wolves Hundred." Oh hey it's Mr. Palmer, sup Image

I'm debating going through a rewatch of those as S4 won't be out for a while (if ever). They really nailed the fuck out of it all 3 times. Hope the True Detective production crew took notes.

Remix is so much better.

After watching a few more episodes I stand by this. The new cut of season four will be the definitive version.

Compared to the almost non-stop entertainment of S1+2*, Season 3 benefits from a rewatch I think - specifically the somewhat stop/start first half before the series' trademark absurdist tragicomedy really snarls to life. Suddenly, dominoes rearing up everywhere, ready to slam down! I burnt through it in a week, then happily rewatched the whole thing with my dad the next. Haplessly try-to-be tough Sy was hugely more sympathetic and interesting, knowing his real loyalties and what he was in for. Lots of late payoff stuff that suddenly bolsters the early eps when you know why it's there ("a potential investor?! Where was she a year ago, ha ha ha!" Oh you poor SOBs Image ).

And aww, I had no idea Kirsten Dunst & Jesse Plemons / Peggy & Ed are IRL married. And just had a kid, who they named, uh, Ennis. >_> Kinda ominous coming off S3 tbh but oh well!

*I know some find S1's Supermarket King material pointless, but I was too busy alternatively loving the callback to the movie, and laughing my ass off at the preposterous quasi-biblical scale of the mayhem. Poor Burn After Reading Brad Pitt-dude.

Westworld Season 2:
I can't say that I gave every episode the attention that it deserved (and definitely required) but alas, enjoyable. This is one of the many "what does it mean to be human" stories that I'm digging. Bernard by far the most interesting character.

Killing Eve:
Good, although ridiculous. Full points for something different.

Random moments of The Bachelorette in the background while I do something interesting and my GF watches this bullshit:
Fucking hell... shows like this being on for 14 seasons show you what producers of anything have to appease to make money. The nerds in here will always be a niche.

I'm on a diet of the 100 and Into the Badlands at the moment.

Emily Beecham is keeping Badlands alive for me. I can't imagine arguing with her if she was my wife.

I don't know if I mentioned it earlier but I watched all 10 eps of Cobra Kai (Karate kid). Since a lot of you are as old as me, I'd say if your on the fence give it a whirl. First 2 episodes are free on youtube to get you into the jist of it. I was pleasantly surprised just how far they are willing to push Johnnys character.

I know there are not many fans, but The man on the high castle has been green lit for 4th season and 3rd season hasn't hit the amazon web space yet. I am a fan and looking forward to it.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

I must admit I didn't watch all of season 3. I couldn't make it through, hated the character centric episodes so gave up 4 or 5 episodes in. I had no idea there was a remixed version, so I'll certainly check it out.

Just finished the first half of season 4 of Fear the Walking Dead.
I always preferred this series over The Walking Dead because it was much more heavily plotted, rather than having these long boring conversations about "what it all means" in the main series. Unfortunately more and more of that crap has been working it's way in, and this most recent season might be the worst yet. It's not like it was ever really good, but I like zombies so, you know.

In a situation where you are facing a zombie horde and may die a horrible death by being eaten, I guarantee no one will be talking about some childhood memory or significant life choice that led you down a path. You will be concentrating on staying the fuck alive. This is something that writers don't seem to be able to grasp. So much needless dialogue. I'll download the second half of the season though...

Kim's Convenience
Fantastic show from Canada about a Korean-Canadian family that runs a little Convenience store. Spot on timing for the comedy. Winter of next year is too darn long to wait for season 3.

Oh man I need to watch more Arrested development. Watched a bunch of episodes on cable ay my old folks' place, but never watched whole seasons.

I also need to watch all of Curb your Enthusiasm, I watched seasons 1 and 2 and loved it, that was terrific

speaking of Larry David : I need to get some Seinfeld seasons on DVD (at least the ones where LD was involved, might skipped the last ones). I don't think Jerry is ever gonna release it on Netflix... syndication royalties + streaming exclusivity for Hulu are too lucrative.

(I don't have cable, so can't watch it there)

My wife & I just watched through The Sinner on Netflix. Looks like it originally aired on USA last year. Pretty solid murder mystery that focuses more on the why than the who. We both kinda had an itch for something good in this vein, and that Sharp Objects show that's running on HBO right now wasn't quite scratching it. Anyone else watch this?

I did. Pretty good, indeed. Don't waste any time as the whole whing happens in 8 episodes. Also, its cool that the guy can avoid some detective character cliches.

Going through Beach Boys again. Been quite a long time sine I watched it last and remember less than I thought I did. One of the better shows Japan ever had.

Just plowed through all of The Handmaid's Tale on Hulu.

Recommended, it actually held my attention and I didn't have to resist the urge to tinker with something in the background while watching.

I'm kind of a sucker for these odd off kilter worlds and learning their weird ins and outs though. That sort of thing sucks me in if it's developed enough.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Slowly working my way through this new-fangled Police Squad! show.

It's obviously more than a little outdated, but it does make me a little resentful they shitcanned it so short. I would have loved the hell out of this show as a kid, especially if reruns were aired back to back with GOAT Matlock.

Matlock puts young people where they belong: In jail!

ozark - went through the first season in a few days. michael bluth as a money launderer for the cartel. get past batemans abysmal acting and it's decent.
orange is the new black - up to the third season. other than piper becoming an insufferable cunt, and the majority of the inmate population discovering their homosexual tendencies, it's good. supporting cast is excellent.

patiently waiting for mr. robot, season 4.

i've been watching Yellowstone, the new Costner series written by that Sicario guy. I never saw Sicario but the writing in this is soooooooooo bad. Costner gets cool lines though which is why I watch it, haha. total guilty pleasure. and I try to send ESP thoughtwaves to Skykid everytime I watch/revel in the 'Cost.

I saw a TED talk by the Architect who designed the Aqua Building. She said the orientation of the balconies encourages vertical communication between the residents. Any experience with that?

Nope, never been in it. A bit out of my price range, and now that I'm in a proper neighborhood I try to be downtown as little as possible.

Don't worry, USA version probably looks really good next to the recent South Korean version.
