I've installed an NESRGB before and have used the 8-pin DIN plus 3.5mm audio but are there any reasons I shouldn't just use a multi-av connector instead? It seems like it would be a lot cleaner and I can use the same cables as the SNES?
Thanks for any information!
NESRGB- Any reason to not use a MultiAV instead of 8pin DIN?

You need to remove some components from the board if using a properly specced snes cable. But otherwise this is the method I find the best for my setup.

One of Voultar's videos touches on this: https://youtu.be/-MuwkiV4aPs?t=20m4s. Other than that, make sure you have J8 selected set to match the csync (TTL vs 75Ohm) the cable you're using expects.
I've had good luck with Retro Fixes 3D printed multi out ports. Specifically their toploader version is great as it doesn't require any case modifications!

Thanks for the information.
I'm going to use the multi-av salvaged from a broken N64 system and use it in my front-loader NES.
Does anybody have any tips for cutting the hole in the case or placement?

Well, to answer your initial question, that is the main reason why you would use the 8-pin DIN instead of the MultiAV: You can simply drill a hole for it.sofakng wrote:Thanks for the information.

Or buy the pre-made one from Retro Fixes that already fits.

If you have a toploader, absolutely; but, if you have a front-loader, you still need to cut the case, and the argument is that it's easier and simpler to drill one big hole for a DIN connector than it is to cut out the rectangle needed for Retro Fixes's front-loader multi-AV port.thebigcheese wrote:Or buy the pre-made one from Retro Fixes that already fits.
