Hi Def NES w/composite mod possible on top loader?

Post by citrus3000psi »

Weird question. But is lifting PIN 21 on the PPU the way to do this still with a Hi Def NES installed? I'm also assuming Q1 should be pulled and bridged.

I'm not sure if this link will help you or not, but there is some information there about the original outputs still working with the hi def NES installed. As an aside, if you have the hi def NES installed, why would you even want composhit video?

Some people like to leave it intact for testing and/or compatibility, like if you ever wanted to hook up your console to a CRT for some Duck Hunt. :)

I find the composite video output found in HDMI modded consoles not to be 100% accurate (when HDMI mode is disabled). There are slight glitched in the video output that don't exist is stock consoles. I always believed this was due to the difference in video output transistor used.
