On mana-infused pure orichalcum bars.

That'd certainly be a first for an organically powered arcade platform -- on the software side, indeed. ^_~

It would be weird to go the rom route.
Patching the games through the network was mentioned by Shou as a possibility on the platform, i would assume it is an encrypted hard drive affair.

I'm very curious when it comes to the hardware design itself.

I spotted the game select screen on one of the photos on the tweet feed.
Nothing super revealing there, though.

@Shou, will the home collector's edition kit have any gameplay difference?

Thanks Mantrox!

Don't we have a JAEPO thread this year? I would also like to know about the other games exhibited there.

And.. have they made any changes to accommodate stick play? (Would hope for: yes, would expect: nope)

How could you possibly expect them to just add stick controls and say "done". Of course there are other changes.

I haven't played it but I know they changed a lot of stuff to have it fit into the arcade controls / arcade world, not just changing the controls and it got tweaked daily heading up to Jaepo, and even the version there is a prototype version.

Not to derail, but since I intend to order a kit/day one during these exciting power to the exa times/"shmup banner years:"
For Egret 2, two downscalers will be needed for this?
UVC, and another in between to downscale 720p>480p or (i), and then the uvc to bring it down further to 320?

That's good to hear.
In case it was unclear earlier: I do wish that this is a successful release (very much so).

It will support 640x480 at least, so just something to bring it down to 320x240.

Just spotted some coverage of the game and platform at JAEPO on 4gamer.

- You can set the character voices on or off.
- At the event there is only normal bomb, but they are considering an auto-bomb feature you can turn on or off.
- They are considering a caravan mode.
- The tentative release date for Type-R is November.
- The price of exA-Arcadia will be under 200.000 Yen.
- They are implementing some state of the art security to combat piracy, since it can be used offline.
- Ten titles are already being developed.
- One more title (besides Type-R and Hydorah) will be revealed at the show.

Pardon any inaccuracies, as i used google translate.

Some more photos.

So if the asking price of the Exa-Arcadia hardware is priced at under 200,000 yen, then it'd be under the $1,838.21 USD asking price in American dollars (according to the current xe.com exchange rates of JPN yen to USD as of today, 2/09/2018). Fair enough.

So does buying an Exa-Arcadia set come with a copy of Aka & Blue Type R bundled together (or is that a seperate purchase as well)?

A bundle would be great indeed, but I’m not holding my breath on that one.

Some details on the interview that was just posted:

Will kits be available in different editions (bare bone for operators and collector's edition for individuals)? If so, what sort of extras can we expect in collector's editions?

We will be doing very limited runs for collector's editions featuring exclusive motherboard casing, soundtracks, posters, autographed kits by the developers, numbered polaroid with the developers and more. If anyone has requests, we are always listening.
