ok and? your subjective preference and reasoning doesn't detract from how abysmal caves execution became post sh-3.

I pretend she said 20.

Seriously what is this cave defense force? No one gives a cows cunt about the inner situation of caves team they will be solely judged on output alone. They picked shit hardware with sh-3, they designed poorly for it, they programmed for it poorly, then reluctantly they came to steam where they programmed every release poorly, broken shit everywhere, glitchy inaccurate thunder dump stuff audaciously charged for, no signs of fixing half of it and you think this is anything to do with windows?

Cave peaked with pgm and have been downhill ever since with a slew of bad decisions in every regard, shit company that gets away with murder because of it's fanboys.

What I think Xyga is trying to get across - if I'm reading his posts right - is that even if Cave went downhill at some point, their key staff still deserve some measure of respect (or at least historical acknowledgement) for the influential role they played within the genre and among many players.

The Capcom analogy is really good: There are precious few things that Capcom has released in recent years that I genuinely enjoy, but in their heyday they were titans of creativity.

I don't have a PS4, but it's always nice to see the Ketsui love (+M2 ports in general). I wonder if this one will have Extra's Arrange mode, and new one, or both?

You couldn't possibly be anymore full of shit. The whole catalog is the highest resale value of any arcade game hardware ever sold. Is that because they are poor games?

All the little bugs that eat up people like you could be in non-Cave games and nobody would notice or care. It's because of what Cave has achieved in the past, they have their own bar to reach. And anyway they are just in a slump.

No it's because they are popular among collectors.

Yes, anything that allows us to say the games aren't good... I wonder where this nonsense movement came from, probably people who can't afford to buy them and that eats them up. It's about the same as a kid being jealous of someone else's car and smashing out a window.

They're good games but they'd be a lot better if they were sealed in plastic.

For PCBs specifically, why on earth should anyone buy a $1000+ PCB for a game that has a better-looking, better-playing console port available for $50 or less? That's not jealousy, and the people who pay that much for PCBs can't be doing it just because they want to play the game.

Yeah, in short. It's completely absurd especially coming from someone who plays the fuck out of several Cave games and also doujins massively inspired by them, to diss entirely everything they've made, their name as a devs and the many players who still enjoyed the games despite a number of issues during their final era of production/cv1k.
That's a lame mentality for a gamer kinda the opposite of what at the moment BIL, perikles, trap15, you, the good guys over the hardware forum etc and the many who contributed to the farm before in so many ways do.
Basically "I state which games are worth playing and how, and the rest of the games and players who do not fit in my extremely narrow definition are all shit". Bravo, practically the same 'everything is black or white by my command' douchebaggery as Despatche (which in terms of judgement quality means the bottom btw)
Actually I've always payed attention to banana's insight but as it's now scattered over the titties (twitch-twitter) and who knows what discord, and he comes here only to make passive-agressive or frankly stupid posts stating what we like is shit and this community is shit, I'm sort of disappointed as he could have been one of those with the competence to demistify and write properly something constructive on the Cave library including ports, something like perikles or BIl do and is extremely useful plus positive, I kind of insisted with him because of that, but seeing how he enjoys being a negative blockhead edgy teenager with as much objectivity as a block of concrete, well just fuck it.
A butt-plug for avatar no longer stops the shit from leaking.

A least that's one thing we can agree about. The prices of pcbs today make no sense and have little to do with the game's quality.

Have you played them? I don't know what it is with the ports that makes you say they "play better" unless you're talking about extra features like replays and scoreboards which aren't important to a lot of players. The sound is better in the ports, if sound is the most important thing to you, I'll give you that but the PCBs play great. Maybe you're talking about slowdown, but that's a specific conversation whether you enjoy Cave's slowdown or not. Other than the sound quality and if you simply don't like their slowdown, the PCBs play pretty perfectly. I guess I don't understand what you are arguing has improved with playability.

The ports don't look better than the boards except in the cases where the ports were planned ahead of time - like Akai Katana and Deathsmiles. For these, on the ports you got the original full HD graphics before they were reduced to low res for CV1000. Cool, but for others where they call them "HD" they look way worse - like Mushihimesama and Espgaluda 2. They only remade some of the graphics so it's a shitbag of mixed resolutions like IKD cracked out on Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. They look shitty and I'd much rather have them in the original with all graphics the same resolution any day.

On the other hand, people would eat the devs alive if in anything other than a CAVE game or a clear imitation of one they allowed the framerate and the speed of the game to vary as wildly as it does in CAVE games.

Bananamatic wrote:the scores don't even fucking upload to the correct leaderboards, sometimes they also fail to override the current replay you have there so you download a replay of a completely different run than what the leaderboard shows you
it happened in mushi and it happened a year later in dfk and a year later they didn't fix it anywhere even after reporting it to them
should also mention the weird bug with hibachi not spawning on arrange A that took them over half a year to fix
it's not just "slowdown is not 100% accurate", it's shitty glitches all over the place they never bothered to fix
and they charge $30 for it while half of the modes have entirely missing slowdown, replays desync without exception and leaderboards are useless due to half of the scores not even being from the correct mode
if that's not shit, you have some very weird standards
sdoj on 360 was also complete shite and that wasn't even windows
What was wrong with SDOJ on 360? I never played the PCB so I didn't notice anything.

i bought/sold/played/traded/scrub cleared nearly all the cave sh3 pcbs spork is just a brainwashed fanboy.
the only reason these games fetch a lot of money is a LOT of rich european neo geo collecters got bored of collecting that crap imported a lot of cabs and bought ALL the pcbs.like nearly all of them.now they are unpossible to get.it doesn't matter if the game is good..people pay £150 for crap like sand scorpion now money is literally no object to these guys.just check the dumb desperate offers they make for shitty games..i used to buy games like bakraid for £80 and dodonpachi for £125 and thought that was extravagant
the sh3 games are not a patch on the earlier games.. the slowdown is treacle and the artstyle and music :(
muchi muchi pork and mushi 1.5/black label are cool i guess
so yeah you euro collecteurs and tonk are all idiots basically.anyone who buys stuff of tonk is a real tonk
the price of a pcb doesn't change what i think about a game or its quality in any way..that would be silly

Wasn't a heavy player of it but I remember complaints that the port actually had input lag. Others can elaborate.

The PS4 port of Ketsui is amazing!

Probably because it is 15th anniversary of Ketsui.
Happy 15th Anniversary, Ketsui!
2002~2017
At this rate, I won’t be interested into shmups anymore. I am no longer going to be active in this forum from now on. I am more interested into Kemono Friends, rhythm games, D4DJ, Puzzle Games, Hololive, and Pretty Cure.

Farewell.

I'm least excited about this, since I have the nice XBox port.
But I'll get it anyway.

Any rumors of what may come next? Batrider, maybe?
Ibara would be neat, and unexpected.

I wonder if people from other leisure activity / hobby sites bicker and argue and bitch and moan at each other as much as on shmups forum!?. I am starting to think this hobby must attract a particually rabid kind of autist.

On a more positive note.. I am pleased as punch to see the ps4 taking over the mantle of console of choice for shmups after the great run on 360. Particually as they are the 2 consoles i own along with the vita for stg action on the can.
If cave loved the 360 let's hope raizing go mad on the ps4!.

Raizing / Eighting are licensing the rights to M2. It is up to them to decide which games come out. I would of skipped Ketsui honestly or saved until later. Games like Battle Bakraid Ibara BL , and Armed Police Batrider would of made more sense first.
A Hardcore gamers reaction to the Lack of Kinect games. Apparently i could of played Dodonpachi with it if i beat a entirely in Japanese Visional Novel piece of shit game called Instant Brain

I'm curious to see how they'll deal with the difficult upscaling and smoothing compared to the so-so previous gen ports.
That's an area with room for improvement and that game deserves to see at least one perfect port one of those days.

Though I too would have enjoyed seeing those other games ported before, yeah. :/

You've been a member since 2012 and you've only just figured this out?

Back OT, hopefully there will be an arrange mode. The 360 x-mode was pretty good.

If anything, it's a bit worse in many other communities, I have found.

I am in an art community, and thought we had the worst drama too. Then I saw various other genre groups and...sheesh, every group from art to comics to this shmup stuff seems to have this in some form, often with a very political side to the arguments that tends to take on a life of its own way past the original common enthusiasm for the subject at hand.

Each community thinks it has the special drama, but it's really just the same everywhere.

I think it's worse, elsewhere. Try to complain about a new Nintendo game on a games forum like GameFAQs. And I really like GFs. I just know to avoid certain topics in certain sections of the site.

It would be worse here, but the mods keep it in check. I'm usually not a fan of heavy handed modding....but I think it's the right balance, for the most part. You get to discuss stuff, and disagree, but you can't be like "I hope you fucking die, Nazi!". I get kind of tired of that shit, on the net.

There's a place for it....but I'm glad it's not here.

It's pretty bad elsewhere too. I've frequented fighting game forums and various sports forums, and it can get pretty heated there.

Though I had never been called a daft c*#$ until I came here (for apparently talking about a run 'n' gun in an essentially off-topic thread). That still leaves a bitter taste tbh.
