Well, here's to new a beginning at the old board! :P I recently scored a few more vidya games, movies, and other stuff to throw at the heap of junk in the garage. I can't wait to read the new posts.

When I visited Shmups Forum through HTTPS using Firefox, I got the following error message:

Quote:
Your connection is not secure

The owner of shmups.system11.org has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.

Learn More...

shmups.system11.org uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.
The certificate is not valid for the name shmups.system11.org.
The certificate expired on April 8, 2015 at 12:56 PM. The current time is June 15, 2017 at 10:45 AM.

Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

When I visited Shmups Forum login page through cleartext HTTP using Firefox and tabbed to the password field, the following appeared below the password field:

Quote:
This connection is not
secure. Logins entered
here could be
compromised.
Learn More

Each "Learn More" linked to an article in Mozilla's knowledge base about the respective error message.

What prevents the Shmups Forum server administrator from acquiring a certificate without charge from Let's Encrypt?

https isn't supported for forum logins, you're actually hitting the wrong virtualhost, the 'default' port 443 one.

That Firefox update is a PITA.

And Google Chrome 62, set to be released in October, will show "Not Secure" in the address bar for all forms on a cleartext HTTP page or with a cleartext HTTP action. (Source)

So is there an ETA for adding an HTTPS VirtualHost?

Since today, the option "log me in automatically" doesn't seem to work anymore, at least in Firefox. I need to log in manually every time I visit the forum. It still worked yesterday.

I had to change one of the cookie settings, try deleting any cookies you have for the forum and see if that helps.

Unfortunately, it doesn't. Well, nevermind.

Is anyone else seeing this problem? I've tried everything with IE/Chrome/Firefox at my end and it all works as expected.

You have asked Pale Moon to connect securely to shmups.system11.org, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
What Should I Do?

If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

shmups.system11.org uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

This is what I get since a couple o' weeks. Thought it was temporary.

Something's up with the styles on the New Topic/Post Reply buttons. They used to be side-by-side, now they're stacked on top of one another (in Chrome).
Not sure what the exact issue is, but the last <td> containing the pagination controls in the row that they're in has a width of 100% which doesn't seem right. Assigning a min-width of 282px or greater to the <td> containing the buttons seems to fix the issue.

Sorry, I seem to have missed this sticky. I posted a thread in the Shmups Chat forum regarding gigantic images breaking the forum layout. There's a suggested CSS tweak in there; I haven't tried it yet, but it would be nice to see something added to the forum's CSS so it'll get fixed for everyone.

I can't seem to reply to PMs anymore. There's some sort of general glitch.

I get the following every time, from my phone and my home PC:

Quote:
General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Incorrect string value: '\xF0\x9F\x98\x81\x0A\x0A...' for column 'message_text' at row 1 [1366]

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.

Nevermind....It was a phone smiley that wasn't compatible with pppHB. Grr.

I cant post from my phone.

It shunts the window im typing in over the reply button. It leaves about 3 pixels of height of the buttons which represents the very edge of the button and unless you use a stylus you aint hitting it.

ive tried moving it around but its all one page.

PC is fine.

Is there a tag to resize images on this forum?

[/img] doesn't work.

Unfortunately not - I think it's soon time to do a major upgrade. However the entire look & feel will have to change unless I can find someone who can do theme development.

Is there a way of configuring the forum software so it filters out those annoying automatically generetad "Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk" messages at the end of people's posts (and similar crap other systems do)?

... possibly. I'll try it on the test instance and see what happens. The software does have the ability to replace words, perhaps it can replace a phrase with nothing.

On the other hand, it's a good indicator of posts to ignore in their entirety.

Will links to posts/threads (from inside and outside the forum) stay intact?

That would be the plan, yes.

xD aw c'mon, you don't love those things? Pour one out for archaic / un-updated phones! I always love seeing those, especially the elusive 'BlueberryPost' (that's a term I just made up. Also I just realized I typed Blueberry and not Blackberry hahaha).

ANYHOO -

^ I agree that it wouldn't hurt to implement auto-resizing of images. Probably pretty easy, and something I came to post about w/ good timing apparently! In the meantime I'll just set up something on my own end for those occasional massive photos :P
