And yet the study of man couldn’t help but attract some of the most adventurous intellects. Harpending, a country boy from the northern Appalachians, spent close to four years in Africa living with tribes of hunting Bushmen and herding Herero.

Henry fell in love with Africa. He seriously considered leaving academia to take up being a Great White Hunter safari guide so he could stay in Africa.
...
In Henry’s accounts, the Bushmen and Herero of the Kalahari Desert tended to be, as he was, cheerful, witty, insightful, and brave.
Nice blog post. Here's another: Exploding nonsense: a review of Cochran and Harpending's 10,000 Year Explosion
It is a slick "camel's nose" approach. First begin with an innocuous fact- genes do change over time. Oh sure, who is going to "deny" this? But then, leap or insinuate from there into sweeping claims. The innocuous info can be tacked on to whatever rickety structure is needed and from there used to make or insinuate sweeping claims. A similar approach is used by the racial IQ "G-men." Start with an innocuous fact- yes blacks show lower IQ scores than whites. No one is "disputing" or "denying" this- IQ test score gaps appear everywhere- between northern and souther Italians, between liberals and conservatives, white northerners and white southerners, between homosexuals and straights and so on. Then once the innocuous camel's nose is under the tent, proceed to insinuate sweeping conclusions or claims while preserving "plausible denial."
BryanM, you were right. This is just a game of Calvinball at this point. Every time he's cornered, Rob contrives an excuse for why it doesn't count, or just goes LOL and hopes it goes away, like the Irish Immigrant example. I'm done with this.

Also the ghost post called these people "cardboard cutout people". And contained a link to this ancient post with insight into their copy-and-paste ways.

We'll never know what biological or environmental factors made Rob into the uninteresting cultist with nothing to say he is today, but don't waste your energy running after straw puppets that aren't things he cares about.

Spend it on crushing them in elections, forever, by fixing the democratic party. Or spend it on masturbation. You'll be a happier person either way in the long run.

Kamala Harris, the establishment's darling for 2020, famous for defending slavery and protecting a banker friend who paid her back (the only democrat he ever donated to in his life). She's co-sponsoring the universal medicare bill. It may only be empty political signalling since there's no possibility of it passing, but it's a milestone. A long, long way from Hillary screaming it'll never ever happen. (Harris is a much more intelligent person, and better politician than Clinton. Praise be.)

Much more important than hysterical penis-based theocracy that will never agree with us.

The NFL is a pretty interesting outfit. You have to literally have no better prospects to want to put in the work and take the damage to your body to have a fraction of a chance of winning the lottery and getting to be one of 0.0000.. percent of guys who get to make some money off your footballing investment.

Every podunk school in the country has a b-ball court, but very few have a swimming pool. Very unfair. Sad.

I can only assume that's where Trump gets most of his policy advice.

Then again, if Spicer was hiding from the press as the time, they might've answered. Or, more likely, refused comment.

Daily reminder that there was nothing intrinsically magical about "well paying, low skilled manufacturing jobs" that made them pay well. In fact, you may remember from those Charles Dickens nightmare stories you were forced to read as a kid, factory jobs were the definition of misery and poverty. Or check out the suicide nets at Foxconn if you don't care about recent history.

It was the intervention of the feds back in the day that made them pay a middle class wage. There's no reason Stockboy at Walmart or a olive picker in Tulare can't have a living wage. No reason besides the fact that said workers have no economic and no political power currently.

Still doing everything she can to rip the democratic party in half. How is she not the female version of Donald Trump again?

Here's a time a paycheck changed Hillary's position according to Liz, again. Can't just let Clinton's lies hang out there unchallenged like that.

Here's her defense of her byzantine means-tested plans that require days of research for a citizen to acquire a 1.3% discount on some purchase:

Being able to afford rent, food, and medical care is a "pony". And somehow she has beeswax in her ears when Bernie says "raise taxes on billionaires". Like that's an unthinkable taboo that can't possibly ever be done intentionally.

How is she not a republican again?

I remember reading in Colin Powell's hacked email that Hillary still refers to Obama in private as "That Man," because she's still pissed he stole her crown in 2008.

Such a pity Bernie Sanders was pulling his punches in the primary to avoid a repeat of 2000. He damn well did have an answer to that question because I and all his other supporters were screaming the answer at our TVs, but he didn't want to mortally wound her. If she and Bernie have a rematch in 2016 and she trots that one out again she's in for a rude awakening.

Sadly the other immortal quote from Powell's email was, "Everything HRC touches she kind of screws up with hubris."

Caring about the plight of poor black communities or unrestricted immigration. Pick one. A president has to make difficult decisions - can't just virtue signal 100% of the time. As for the DACA decision, my sources tell me it is not as ugly and cruel as the far-right would like (mass deportation), so the free everything for everybody camp should rejoice.

Ah, remember when corporations had to pay taxes, and in order to get out of giving that money to the feds they'd just hire some schmucks or invest in r and d?

Good thing the everything for the sake of the billionaires crowd won out. With no taxes and no inflation, you just put that money in a box and spend all your time on cocaine and hookers instead. So easy now.

The fact that Trump was able to get in front of the cameras just a bit ago and say the things he said without being summarily laughed out of the room by all in attendance is, frankly, a national disgrace.

CNN, naturally, refused to discuss it at all, immediately pivoting back to DACA in its aftermath and to North Korea after that. They'd rather jump off a cliff than report that nothing in our economic history supports a single thing the President just said.

Asking or expecting Dracula to stab itself in the heart with a stake is unrealistic and not at all worth getting angry over. Which is why I avoid Him altogether, because I have enough unproductive rage as it is.

(How are you watching CNN by the way? You're streaming it off a website or something right? You didn't give Dracula your money did you???!)

Good good, it's important to not fund terrorists.

The troop surge in Afghanistan is totally gonna work this time. If 100,000 men couldn't get the job done, then I'm sure a few thousand can totally get it done.

(Depressingly, if you actually paid attention to these things, those 100,000 dudes did get it done. The Taliban offered complete surrender multiple times. We just didn't accept it - whether it be through sheer incompetence or malignance. The war exists to be a war, you can't have a war if you accept a peace deal after all.)

Funny, I don't think I've heard a single America-first/Hillary Wants WWIII-er say one word about that particular development in the weeks since it happened.

Off to the side, turns out that the favorite plutocrat refuge of "poor people caused the housing crisis" is, surprise, as implausible as it always sounded.

The house flippers are just one out of hundreds of sectors of gambling, expecting it to always pay out. The people who gave them loans were doing the same exact shit, after all: gambling that every single loan they gave to anyone, would pay out. The smart ones sold the subprime loans to the dumb pigeons, of which this world has an ample supply.

At the time, Casey Serin was the perfect poster child for these greedy, lazy "get rich fast and easy" fucks. Everything that man did was risible, and it's a tragedy Caseypedia, the chronicle of his many mind blowing adventures, is down. Internet archives didn't adequately cache it.

While amusing to learn about such a dumpster fire of a human being, it's rather sad when you consider his numerous victims. At least his wife eventually had enough sense to divorce him and go far, far away.

He's a worthwhile study since these are the people who are screwing us over again.
