Dragon Names:

1p side
  • Red cyvern (1) = Altair
  • Cyan cyvern (2) = Schwarz
  • Green cyvern (3) = Ferious
2p side
  • Purple cyvern (1) = Veqa
  • Orange cyvern (2) = Vais
  • Yellow cyvern (3) = Serene
It should be noted that the second player cyverns play exactly like their player one counterparts...therefore Altair == Veqa, and so on.

Playing Cyvern in MAME:
The Super Kaneko Nova System BIOS (it should be named skns.zip, and it's not hard to find at all) must be downloaded and placed in the rom directory/folder for the Cyvern ROM (which should be downloaded seperately, of course) to work. Thanks to AWJ for pointing this out in another thread.

Hehe, I figured this forum needed a Cyvern thread anyways and it seems to go with my MO of making score threads with less popular/obscure games. In fact, if you didn't make the Aero Fighters/Sonic Wings threads, I probably would have (I would have included Aero Fighters 1 though, even though it's like the most vanilla shooter ever made).

Had a wee go on this trying to get used to the medalling system, forgot just how violent the bosses are in this.

Anyone know what causes the first level boss to turn green? I think it could be the value of the medals but I'm not sure.

Anyway....

Not much of an improvement, but it feels good to finally make it to 1-4 :)

Always lose the medals in the 2nd half of stage 3, wish I could keep them for stage 4 cause there is a lot of scoring potential there

Too late for the smeet.

Icarus - 14,401,390 - Ferious - 2-4 - MAME

Image Image

Finished the first loop with over 11mil, and didn't drop my Medals once throughout the whole credit. Lost the last life very early in stage 2-4, and with a bomb to spare too >_<# A few opportunities for big Medal hauls missed though due to no bombs or no Banish, but TBH I was aiming more for survival than scoring this time around.

This one is replay verified. Details of the download wil be made available in the next 24hrs. (The replay has some funny sound, I think I connected the audio to Mic instead of Line In. Meh, whatever. ^_-)

Nice score, DEL. ^_^

You can make it further than me - I didn't even make it past the start of the stage - so you should have a better chance of clearing the game than I have.

The stage4 boss is a bit of a beast, but all its patterns are telegraphed by certain actions. If you can figure out the different body actions prior to the attacks, you can have a better chance to get past it. IMO the worst patterns are the ones which appear right in front of your nose, such as the ones where it swipes its claws and fires the screenwide spreads, or the spreads combined with aimed lasers.

A bomb or two can also help negotiate the harder patterns ^_-

You'll definitely have no problems in stage5, since the amount of Extends and bombs you pick up can see you up to the last boss.

Good luck! Go for the 2-ALL! ^_^

Oh, yes. This poor score is for bounty only. Maybe tommorow I will do score over 17mln and show interesting form boss 2-2 (with tentacles).

Tentacles? This is the first I've heard of that.

Do any of the other bosses have special forms? (levels 3 or 4?)

No, other bosses don't have special forms. Only bosses 1-1, 1-2, 2-1 and 2-2 have special forms.

And yes, boss 2-2 has tentacles if your power is great (power = lives in reserve, shot power, bombs). First time when I saw this form my power was: 7 lives in reserve, 2 bombs, max (31) shot power.

JAV - 9,513,010 - Ferious - 2-2 (MAME)

I hate that fourth boss and his completely random attacks :x

Make that:

JAV - 10,570,710 - 2-3 - Ferious

Once again, an incredibly crappy first loop = 7,5 mil. 2-2 boss was a beast - took three of my lives...

RFP - 1,699,200 - Ferious - 1-3 (MAME)

First real go at this game, and it's good and challenging. I guess I'd want to add that I find this to be more influenced by Gun Frontier than Battle Garegga. The ship designs, how single components are highlighted/destroyed, the style of the medals and method they are collected, and that's it can be quite a handful. Although, I've played in a very short time so pardon the noted points+ for destroying X part with Banish and or the actual medalling maybe in time I'll see more akin to Garegga, but I thought I'd mention it.

Damn St2 Boss...
Ended St1 1.12mil but still unfamilar with St2 tactics. Extend 2 should be nearby.

EDIT: Scratch that.

RFP - 2,441,310 - 1-3 - Ferious (MAME)

Got 1.4mil St1 which helped me land the 2nd extend during St2 boss.

A most wicked replay on MARP, that inspires me to invest much more time in this game. Destructor is awsome.
