David Lynch-gasm: Twin Peaks The Return [SPOILERS GALORE]
Re: David Lynch-gasm: Twin Peaks The Return [SPOILERS GALORE
OMG, episode 14!
Bellucci still look amazing.
Chad was being watched for months.
Officer Andy, MVP.
Caved-in-mouth-guy was gross, but the animal sounds was more unsettling.
That London bloke has a Hulk hand!
Was the furnace room James went into where BOB once recited the Fire Walk With Me poem in Coopers dream?
The Truck Off guy had it coming, but maaaaaaan!

It was too good for words... wasn't even worth coming in here to talk about.
The only thing that could have made that better is a hot sex scene between Monica Belucci and Tammy Preston.

Re: David Lynch-gasm: Twin Peaks The Return [SPOILERS GALORE
I thought the funniest bit was with the two FBI guys in Washington. "How we going to find him?" "THATS WHAT WE DO HERE!"
Great episode. Why did it have to be Andy who gets to talk to the giant? Jeez. That Hulk hand kid... Not sure about that though it least it was a scene with James that didn't suck. The callbacks to FWWM were great, and for once so was the scene in the bar at the end. There was an ominous sound that started when the girl said her mums name was Tina. Who is Tina?
The end song was dreadful. I'm not a fan of any of these "bands". I manage to avoid most of this stuff but the end of Twin Peaks has had me hitting my head against the wall. Without exception (well, maybe NIN) they're all dreadful and derivative. It's usually a bunch of girls who put on a Kraftwork album and copied it. Great.
I've also had dreams about Monica Bellucci, but not ones like Cole.
EDIT: also, Garce Zabriski, wtf! That scene was amazing. The fucking drunk guy in the cells... So much good stuff.

a....nd now I think you're nuts. I actually own LPs by Au Revoire Simone (episodes 4 & 9), and The Chromatics (Epsidoes 2 and 12) as well as some other bands on the same label, all produced by Johnny Jewel who is also a band member, and happens to have written a few scores for this season.I'm not a fan of any of these "bands".
There's only been one totally electronic act and he had a 10 second blurb. I get it that it's not your thing, but that might be the most meritless complaint in this thread (and there are many). Plenty of us are impressed with and definitely look forward to the ending numbers in The Roadhouse. I won't derail by arguing the merits of music in here, but none of these are a surprise considering FWWM and Lynch's musical dabblings of late. I wonder if Tammy Preston is going to get her chance to sing?I manage to avoid most of this stuff but the end of Twin Peaks has had me hitting my head against the wall. EDIT: Au Revoire Simone's would qualify as all electronic, but the argument still holds.
You're back above water again. Just barely.I've also had dreams about Monica Bellucci, but not ones like Cole.

Tina is who Charlie (Audrey's husband) calls in episode 12 to find out what happened to Billy, who I'm assuming is the guy in the cell bleeding from the mouth.dan76 wrote:Who is Tina?
I was surprised at first that Andy was the one taken to the white lodge (I'm guessing it's the white lodge, anyway), but I think it makes sense given the innocent nature of his character that he would be the one to go.
And Grace Zabriskie, holy shit.

Yes, you're right. I wonder if we will see her. The ominous soundtrack suggest we will.jasoncslaughter wrote:Tina is who Charlie (Audrey's husband) calls in episode 12 to find out what happened to Billy, who I'm assuming is the guy in the cell bleeding from the mouth.dan76 wrote:Who is Tina?

As for the music. I just don't like it. I wish I did as I'd have more to enjoy. Thinking about last weeks ending with Ed and his soup it would have been a great way to end each episode. Spend a few minutes with an old character doing their thing whilst the credits roll.
Btw, Dougie wasn't in last nights episode, did anyone miss him?

Sure! But I arguably enjoyed watching Sarah Palmer take off her face and the thing w/ a dick finger take off his face more.dan76 wrote: Btw, Dougie wasn't in last nights episode, did anyone miss him?

There was so much cool stuff in this episode, I even forgot about the Diane - Janey-E twist.

"Why not him?" I believe would be the Fireman's answer. And I don't see as the white lodge. Seems to be more like the Fireman's house ("Someone's in our house", i believe he said that, meaning that he doesnt have a lot of company), where he instruct people to his plans, like he did with the green glove boy.jasoncslaughter wrote:I was surprised at first that Andy was the one taken to the white lodge (I'm guessing it's the white lodge, anyway), but I think it makes sense given the innocent nature of his character that he would be the one to go.
Wouldn't be surprised if he's also not the Giant from the original series, and there is some kind of benevolent (?) mystical creatures and they all look like Carel Struycken.
Yeah, emphatic... seems like you're right with that Sarah Palmer/BOB comparison image. Maybe he jumped from Mr C to Sarah.
She sure resamble him, even more than Mr C's hair lenght and Leland's white hair.

Not sure if it's Bob, but whatever it is enjoys booze and violence on the TV.

Well, It sure could have been fewer ending with bands, replaced with minutes with old characters.dan76 wrote: As for the music. I just don't like it. I wish I did as I'd have more to enjoy. But the endings with Sharon Van Etten, Chromatics/Johnny Jewel and Au Revoire Simone were perfect. Really suits the tone of the new series.

Re: David Lynch-gasm: Twin Peaks The Return [SPOILERS GALORE
Checked out episode 14 and have say the scene where FBI deputy director Gordon Cole is trying his damnest to adjust his old-school bulky "analog" type of hearing aids while a window washer is squeegeeing a window (those type of hearing aids depicted in the new Twin Peaks episodes, they hail from the early 1970s). In retrospect, it's presented here for a good chuckle or two as a parody/tongue-in-cheek insider joke at best.
Today's hearing aids are much better (and smaller, size-wise) since they're "digital" based & focus on human speech being spoken that comes in loud 'n' crystal clear (without the need to raise one's voice "to be heard", especially during a phone conversation). Plus the fact that some of today's digital hearing aids have Bluetooth capability from the get-go (of course, it depends on how much one's willing to pay for a pair of hearing aids with that particular option/upgrade). How cool is that? If money isn't a problem with those with very deep pockets, top-of-the-line hearing aids can cost upwards of $20,000+ USD each.
On whatever Cole's salary is, he could easily afford a new pair (or through his very generous health benefits package deal, get 'em for free courtesy of Uncle Sam {albeit at the American taxpayers' expense, indeed, is the real clincher}). Working for Uncle Sam has it's perks, ain't that right folks?

About the window cleaner, didn't those squeaky sounds sound pretty much the same as the eyeless woman when she was in the cell? Pretty sure it's a mirroring of sorts, like the doppelgangers. Maybe we're supposed to look for similar things happening in the same episodes?

I don't know if you already knows about this, but they already found mirroring scene, and it did involved our eyeless woman, Naido.

Just chiming in, it feels amazing to be watching TP after all these years.
Slow-paced, eerie. I'm a pretty big Lynch fan but despised Inland Empire. It was just too much. Episode 8 reminded me of it, my least favourite episode so far. I'll come back to this thread after the episode Sunday! =)

I disliked Inland Empire for other reasons -- namely the SD digital format. Nothing should ever be recorded in that... even back in 2007.

Inland Empire and Straight Story are the only ones that I haven't seen. Some day I will.
Re: David Lynch-gasm: Twin Peaks The Return [SPOILERS GALORE
After watching the show and thinking of all of the characters in this season, it feels like everyone is acting opposite of their normal selves. Also, I think that part of what we are seeing is actually going on and the other half is some sort of dream. One scene that makes me believe that it's a dream is Sarah Palmer drinking in her living room and the loop of the boxing match on TV. I'm not sure if the fighter in the ring is the manager of Lucky 7 Insurance, but it makes me wonder if this is Cooper having a Newhart moment or something.
Also, with the way Cooper moved through into the real world from Naido's place..it makes me wonder if this is the same method in which Fred Madison switched positions with Pete Dayton in Lost Highway.

Fucking great. One thing, let's get this out if the way first. I thought we were going to get ZZ Top. Man, that would've been fantastic.
So much good stuff this episode. Let's not see any more of Ed and Norma. Let them just be happy. It's been a long time coming, and this whole series is worth it just for them to get it on.
The Log lady was quite emotional. I'm not saying it teared up, but I think a bit of dust might've got caught in my eye around that time.
Phillip Jefferies us now a giant teapot. Makes sense. The creepy lady who opened the door... Straight out of a nightmare. Was it the same actress as the creepy guy behind the diner in Mullholland Drive?
Audrey... Is it that she's in a coma trying to wake up? It could well be something like that. She's "on the threshold' apparently. Is her husband a doctor?
Hulk fists swing into action. Fuck me. We also got a bit more of the drunk guy in the cells. I could watch him all day.
Jesus, loads happened but I damn tired. The clip of Sunset Boulevard was great with Dougie. It looks like Coop could be back next episode.
Glad I stayed up.

ZZ Top would have been pretty amazing... assuming they could stay up there w/o their walkers. One thing to note, I've not gone back and checked (since last week), but I believe we see James and Hulk Fist enter the The Road House back in episode 2 I believe. Check out da clothes. Also, I was curious if we're to piece together the timeline (at least of Roadhouse Events) based on the acts. It would be bizarre for bands even as small as the ones playing to come by multiple times for one song. And James opening for the Chromatics... just ain't gonna happen.
Apparently this is a great film. Need to check it out.The clip of Sunset Boulevard

Re: David Lynch-gasm: Twin Peaks The Return [SPOILERS GALORE
Agreed, GP. The SD stuff was terribly hard to stomach. For me it was also the fascination for twins (doppelgangers) that turned me off. Hard to follow, and I like to think that I can bridge the comprehension gap when I must, usually. Here, I was completely lost.
Right, about yesterday's episode.
I have trouble with Audrey Horne scenes - and the last episode was also pretty painful. Her acting is just plain terrible. The scenes drag on like crazy. The threshold idea is interesting... I feel like she's in limbo. Nothing is happening, the dialogue runs on and on. They want to go to the Roadhouse but NEVER actually leave. Pretty dreamy and hard to watch for me.
Jeffries teapot was a very neat scene. MacLaughlan is an amazing actor, no doubt.
The show moves painfully slowly at this point. I can't wait to see what happens to Dougie. I wanted to see Gordon yesterday, but didn't.
Naomi Watts was amazing in that one scene. She's excellent this season.
Amick is beautiful still. My wife agreed.
In my opinion, the show is best when we don't see Ben Horne's brother high in the woods or Dr Jacoby, so theoretically yesterday was fine.
