They're sold out now, they weren't when I posted that (I checked by attempting to checkout). There will be additional waves.

My Super Famicom arrived, and as suspected it's a 1CHIP-03!
Not as nice looking as I was hoping and the inside was pretty dirty, but I'm pretty happy with it. My first SFC/SNES. Will be getting a Jr. as well.

As before, the serial number is 25252362.
It has the SHVC-JPN-1 sticker. Forgot to check the CSYNC on the board, will have to check later.
Photos here if anyone is interested.

Take a photo of the bottom side of the board (in decent detail) and I can tell you right away about the csync. It should be missing several resistors.

Will do, but it will probably have to wait until I get back home. I'm currently on vacation in Japan.
Totally forgot about that while I had it open.

Cool thanks! That turns out to be the earliest yet known -02 revision for SFC.

Added.

What I'm really curious about is if anyone has managed to find a PAL 1CHIP-03. the Database only goes up to 1CHIP-02 for PAL format.

I've been looking on and off for years and I haven't found a 1CHIP-03 myself, I'm starting to wonder if they were ever released as PAL versions?
Anyway, my original childhood SNES died today  so here's another entry that's ~200k numbers above the UP16478931 entry, might be useful to narrow that gap a bit more:

UP16665898
Quick picture for proof as well: https://i.gyazo.com/4d9279e5a1981c3de91 ... 8da090.jpg

Now I'm on eBay asking sellers for their serial numbers... Looks like I'll be waiting until I hear back from them before I do anything. I've confirmed one at UP17815991 which should put it in the 01 - 02 range of 1CHIP releases at least.

EDIT: I received the UP17815991 SNES, so here's another entry to confirm the 1CHIP-01 range: https://i.gyazo.com/5cba9c719b9cb2e4225 ... 6d1678.jpg

Thanks so much for maintaining this database. I was able to use it to find a reasonably priced 1chip-03.

I was going through some old pictures on my HDD and found the 1chip SFC I used to have. Never should've sold that thing!

Added the serials. Yours narrows the gap on when the -02 revision got started.

What's the difference (if any) between the borti SNES RGB amp (using the newer amp) and the Voultar mod? Is there any?

Also I remember some discussion a while ago about the levels really not being "correct" unless you lifted a pin on a certain chip?

Doesn't help narrow anything down but for completion sake, here's mine;

NTSC-U UN318554493 SNS-CPU-1CHIP-02

Got it for a normal price too, because of your list.

Thank you!

The list was originally created by user darthcloud and was pretty well defined for 1CHIP models from about 4-5 years ago (FYI and listed contributors):

I only keep the current sheet in my links after several people requested it be maintained when it became obvious he was no longer keeping up with it. In order to clean up the sheet, I stripped it down to just the important data people found most useful. Tracking user names would also mean tracking web site addresses, and in some cases, the users weren't even active any more.

That's cool I guess, I don't really get the need for listing contributors. I am glad that FBX has continued to maintain it, I think it would be awesome to eventually see which serial number was the first for each revision change.

I tried searching this forum and Google for answers, but yielded no results.

Are all SNES Minis/Jrs. 1CHIP-03? It would make sense since they were released in 1997 (SNES was discontinued in 1999) and the 1CHIP-03 was the last revision of the SNES. They have the sharpest video quality and many say the Mini has the sharpest video as well after the RGB mod.

Here's the rundown as far as I've seen:

1. The mini is its own revision, but very similar to the 1CHIP line from original consoles. The PQ from the 1CHIPs and the mini can variate slightly in sharpness, but at such small detail that most won't even notice a difference unless they do zoom-in screencap comparisons. The variation is random: One person's 1CHIP-02 might be sharper, while another person's -03 might be sharper.

2. Using Voultar's bypass board removes the variation in sharpness. In other words, if you put his board in a 1CHIP and a mini, they should look the same in level of detail. However, it becomes so sharp that you may have aliasing lines show up in the picture on the Framemeister. In the case of the OSSC, you need to turn on the video LFP to 9Mhz in order to filter out the lines, giving a superb picture. Because this is not possible on the Framemeister, I keep my 1CHIP-03 with the stock encoder for Framemeister usage (although I added in 750 Ohm resistors on the RGB lines to attenuate brightness), and use Voultar's board in my mini for the OSSC.
