Samsung's SSDs are generally regarded as the go-to in general these days. For this sort of use, the 850 EVO series would be the best fit. Wait for one to go on sale if you can.
Crucial is another reliable choice. Avoid their BX series drives (poor performance) but their MX series drives are decent.

Will any SSD I look up on Amazon work? I don't know anything about them.
The PS4 uses 2.5 inch, right?
Would this do the trick? Do I have to worry about size? Like 1 TB or whatever?

It is completely pointless to buy an SSD for a PS4, they have a SATA-II interface.
PS4 Pro has a SATA-III interface though, so it can actually utilise the SSDs speeds.

SATA 2 versus SATA 3 doesn't have any impact on the seek times, which is the primary improvement of an SSD (until you get to NVMe where the transfer speeds are substantially improved).

I purchased that particular SSD. Thank you very much for the input.

That's a good SSD (the same one I have in my desktop, in fact). The price you paid was a bit high, though, I got it for $237 USD on Black Friday.

I've seen some speed comparisons, on Digital Foundry, and I think it'll be worth the upgrade.Guspaz wrote:That's a good SSD (the same one I have in my desktop, in fact). The price you paid was a bit high, though, I got it for $237 USD on Black Friday.

That's BS, an SSD will still be way faster than any conventional hard drive regardless of the SATA interface.speedlolita wrote:It is completely pointless to buy an SSD for a PS4, they have a SATA-II interface.

I haven't done any actual testing. But for general gaming purposes I try to use SSHD whenever possible. On paper you get the cheap storage of a spinning disk with the speed of an SSD as long as your usage pattern for several gaming sessions touches less than 8GB of data.
Especially for my PC. If I'm playing the same game for a few days/weeks, most of it should cache and approach SSD speed.
