Metal Slug X MVS cart

Post by 99pence »

Recently I've been looking out for Metal Slug X MVS carts on ebay. The first one I found had bits of the label rubbed off. Naturally I thought you know...careless. Then I came across another one with the label rubbed off in the same place then I thought, you know...funny. Naturally. So I thought I'd see if I could find another one and that had the same bits rubbed off. So naturally I thought to myself, thats a bit funny. Then I looked at some other MVS games and just as I expected it looks like the serial numbers have been rubbed off all of these Metal Slug X carts. I thought crumbs thats a bit funny.

So whats the deal? What have they got to hide? How am I gonna list serial numbers in my sig on Neo Geo forums?

Hmmm, thats really weird, I know sometimes you come across games that have the serial cut out, but rubbed off...Is it the same seller for every one?

I say stay away, nobody wants a bootleg. Look for a nice complete kit. 8)

That is weird. But why would you want/need to include the serial numbers in your signature?

I think that was a joke

I personally would steer clear if this is the case.

I think this means they are bootleg carts. Not sure though.

You might have to visit filthy neo-geo.com to find out.

Cheers fellas.

They're not rubbed out so much as ripped out. Odd.

I thought it had something to do with arcade vendors (who removed the serial#)
not wanting the cart to be traced back to them.

The only real way to determine a bootleg is to open the casing &
examine the game's PCBs for official program ROM chips.

P.S. I agree with the second part :P

Neo Geo, what a joke. Pirate home system games, pirate MVS games. I'm too scared to use my Neo Geo Pocket incase I rub the paint off to reveal a Game Gear logo.

Correct.

MVS titles were not supposed to be resold.
