Awesome. Don't think I've played any of their shooters, but Saboten Bombers is up there with Bubble Bobble for my money.

Never played any of these. Anyone care to explain what they're like? Are they particularly unique, or just tried and true classic shmups? Saboten Bombers looks cool, at least.

thunder dragon 2 is a vert comparable in quality to offerings by toaplan, psikyo, raizing et al and hacha macha is a cool looking cute em up that has become a bit of a cult forum favourite over the years.i believe rob and macaw were some of the first peeps to praise the work of nmk.it was definitely robs hidden gem countdown that put me onto thunder dragon 2 and rapid hero

Last I heard the rights to their stuff was in the hands of some mobile-centric company or other, but I don't know if things have changed since then.

I think Taito may have the rights to some of their stuff since Slap Fight was in some stand alone TV game thing (edit: Taito Nostalgia 2), but I'm not 100% sure.

I don't read Japanese. What systems are getting ports?

edit - Translate it. These will be downloads then.

It's a peculiar repertoire. Several of their games are either unremarkable or outright dry (the first P-47, Task Force Harrier, US AAF Mustang for example) although usually fairly competent. Some of their output is unfortunately quite bad as well (Saint Dragon might be the worst adaptation of the Irem formula I've seen on arcade format, it's either that or Rezon; the first Thunder Dragon could've been serviceable if not for outrageous collision detection and meretricious set-ups).

I want to explicitly mention Argus - their very first shmup - which is the single hardest classic 1-ALL as far as I know, for all the wrong reasons. It has a bonhomous concept (fly as high up on the screen as the game allows for more bonus points and chances to grab extends) and provides solid action for the first few stages. Then it completely falls apart because almost all of the four weapons are utterly useless (the game automatically cycles through them with each stage), your ship is too fast for the narrow corridors, bosses spew out so many enemies that you cannot fire at all due to sprite overload, slowdowns come and suddenly go away etc. pp.

Valtric (if you consider it to be part of the genre, which you should) is outstanding, one of the finest multi-directional shooters in existence. Thunder Dragon 2 has been mentioned already and I'm also sure that fans of caravan titles will love Macross 2.

USAAF Mustang looks extremely drab and traditional, but when you play it you realise how oddly strange it is. I can't help loving it even if it's in a a slight kusoge kinda way.

I remember quite enjoying St Dragon back in the day, the Amiga version at least. Also never realised it was an NMK game.
