vga switch
Does anyone know about this vga switch?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/112334482763?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
Im looking for something that can switch 240p signals and as a bonus it has 16 inputs. my current setup isnt ideal right now i have 2 smaller scart switches hooked together and they are full. Im about to be on switch #3 if i dont find something better.

Re: vga switch
You can get an Extron MVX switcher for 1/10th of the price, some of them even support composite/s-video over the VGA/HD-15 connector making 15kHz compatibility pretty much guaranteed (edit: but not 240p though). See here: http://www.extron.com/product/listbytyp ... ubtype=104
If you want to stick with SCART you may consider the Hydra, there's a 16 inputs version: http://lotharek.pl/product.php?pid=197

Re: vga switch
Could you guys recommend an Extron VGA switch with two VGA out and Six VGA input. Or do all the Extron VGA switch perform the same?. Thanks

an eduquated guess would be that they all perform the same (which is extremely well)SNK-NEO-GEO wrote:Could you guys recommend an Extron VGA switch with two VGA out and Six VGA input. Or do all the Extron VGA switch perform the same?. Thanks
I know some people use the MVX series, so you could go with that if you need a specific series recco
just search Extron VGA 6x2 or MVX 62 and you'll find them, no problem

Re: vga switch
I see. Thanks for the suggestion on the MVX.
Im watching an Mvx 128 and 1616 now, and the price on the 128 is so much better i think im going to get it. im just wondering if ill run into the same problem again - Running out of inputs. I know that wont happen with the 1616.

Re: vga switch
What about the Kramer Vp-161xl or Vp-321xl?
are there any issues with them? quality loss, etc?
they look Straightforward to hookup and use. It seems to operate just like my scart switch does.
16 inputs, 16 buttons, minimal setup.

Re: vga switch
I finally got my Extron Mvx 128 hooked up. It works great. Best thing i did for gaming. No more Scart, no more scart switches, No more loose connections no more blue tint from loose connections, and No Bncs.
Ive got Genesis, Master system, Saturn, Dreamcast, Nes Snes Turbografx Atari 2600 and Playstation 1 Hooked up to it, and still have 3 inputs left.
Great.

Re: vga switch
I wish I went with a VGA switch from the start, and DSUB15 cables for all consoles that support it (I think a console needs to output CSYNC for a DSUB15 cable to be made for it though, right?)
Right now I have one DSUB15 cable for my NESRGB modded NES, and one for my Super Famicom. But it turned out my Super Famicom doesn't output CSYNC ;_; So the SFC DSUB cable doesn't work with my console

No, A sync on luma cable will work. But then you need a sync stripper. I have a Hd15 playstation cable. it is sync on luma.
Also, the MVX outputs TTL Sync, no matter what you give it on the input. The output cable needs to be attenuated to bring it back down to 75 ohms if your using a TV.

Re: vga switch
How do you clean the sync between the cable and the extron? are there sync cleaners that take VGA in?

Re: vga switch
its not VGA, its 15khz RGB that happens to be travelling over a vga connector. the extron doesnt care if you feed it Vga or RGBS.

Re: vga switch
mvsfan: so you would then need to route this to an RGB Rxi before going to say a PVM?

Re: vga switch
no I mean : your DSUB Playstation cable carries Sync on luma.
The Extron only accepts Csync
So you obviously convert the sync signal of the Playstation cable.otherwise the Extron wouldn't accept it.
I want to know what you use to clean the sync of the Playstationcable

Re: vga switch
Be careful with these types of big professional VGA switches.
I bought one which apparently is password protected. (some kind of secure networking vga switch) So what I need to start using it is a separate monitor and a keyboard to type in the password. I have changed the password, but the password protection cannot be turned off. It's a very old unit from the Windows 95 days, I think.
Just a warning to first really study the manual before you buy. Not all of these are simple switches.
