One last entry! Unlike Override and Hana Tahka Daka!?, this one is actually fairly decent for simplistic scoring. Granted, you could milk bosses for missiles, but they are worth so little you'd have to invest hours for a minimal gain and I doubt anyone is doing that for Avenger. Having said that, I enjoyed the game quite a bit this time around, it's overall perfectly average (with the added bonus of sporting an incredibly catchy boss theme) with some better stages (e.g. the desert stage with the fast scrolling) and some dry bosses (especially the penultimate one). The Gyrodine tilting aspect is well implemented and the handsome boost in score for picking up surplus canisters makes for a neat little challenge when trying to chase after high scores.
