Screen names that should be used
Screen names that should be used
I was just playing Dangun Feveron, and the name The Artful Dodger popped into my head. I realized that that would be a good screen name for the shmups forum, and was surprised no one was using it.
Any other screen names which you're surprised to see aren't used?

Psikyo is literally "SAI KYO." (Pronounced with an elongated "O".)
Using my wife's dictionary, I would translate it as "Colorful/decorated capital." "Sai" is the onyomi for the verb "irodoru," which would mean to color or decorate. This is the same Kyo as in Kyoto or Tokyo, meaning "capital city." It's also the kanji for the name of Kyo from King of Fighters.
As for a shmuppy handle, I've considered going with Arthur Schmidt. Alas, I've always stuck with my given name.

Actually, now that I think of it, I wonder if it could be a play on "saikyo"; I think I heard that it means "the strongest" or something like that...someone more versed in Japanese could probably be a bit more enlightening...greg wrote:Psikyo is literally "SAI KYO." No, that would be "saikou" (elongated "o"), which means "the best." "Saitei" means "the worst." This is the word I use to describe my wife's boss, the owner of the sushi restaurant she's the waitress at. The guy is a total stingy jerk.BulletMagnet wrote:Actually, now that I think of it, I wonder if it could be a play on "saikyo"; I think I heard that it means "the strongest" or something like that...someone more versed in Japanese could probably be a bit more enlightening...

Would be a good screen name, but I doubt Dickens was a shmup fanalpha5099 wrote:I was just playing Dangun Feveron, and the name The Artful Dodger popped into my head. I realized that that would be a good screen name for the shmups forum, and was surprised no one was using it.

Yep. The characters shown on the screen(along with the leaves/flower petals floating by, and PSiKYO) means "colorful capital".Using my wife's dictionary, I would translate it as "Colorful/decorated capital." "Sai" is the onyomi for the verb "irodoru," which would mean to color or decorate. This is the same Kyo as in Kyoto or Tokyo, meaning "capital city." Heh, even better, you could extend it into something like "Donald Pachington" or something like that, and see how long it's take someone to get the reference. You could even expand it to pseudonyms like "Axle A." or the like...Tar-Palantir wrote:Don Pachi (someone had to say it)
Hmm, when I see that word translated into English it almost always has the "y" in it for some reason, even though the way you put it it seems that it wouldn't be there...weird.greg wrote:No, that would be "saikou" (elongated "o"), which means "the best."
