Because it means you will eventually have to send the board back to capcom for service, and they charge a handsome price to restore the rom and give you a new battery.bigbadboaz wrote:Can anyone explain why boards are designed to eventually fail? Actually it's to stop bootlegging, something that diluted the NEO share of the arcade markte by a fair bit. I don't really think the battery was designed to make capcom profit, it's more these boards weren't meant to live beyond the arcades into homelife (where they aren't powered 24/7).
